Integra Ls Turbo or Eclipse Gsx?
I originally wanted an Ls turbo, but am considering a 97-99 eclipse GSX.
I keep hearing how unreliable the gsx will be but I figured once I boost the integra it'll be more or less the same but im not sure. If I get the LS im looking for about 300-330whp, if I get the gsx im looking for about 400-430whp.
How bad is the reliability of a 400whp gsx vs a 300whp integra ls?
another problem is traction, I know I wont have traction in the Ls until about 3rd gear. Im also considering getting LSD for the integra which will help for 2nd gear traction. What quarter mile times are you guys getting with a 300whp integra LS?
I appreciate any insight

Heh. as a DSM owner, you're paying to play regardless. If you think you want AWD and more repairwork than ever before, go with GSX. If you want to use the quality parts for the LS and still be able to enjoy the car, with the understanding you have a lot of wheelspin and understeer with an FWD car, go LS.
We can't choose this for you. there is no better.. only better for YOU.

Hondas to me are more fun. Can take more abuse (WOT shifts, miss shifts, launches etc.) If you break something on a honda its like an axle, they are what like 50 bucks, if something breaks on a GSX its either the rear end, rear axle, or t-case. That **** gets expensive. I like my GST but if i had to choose id choose a Honda and my GST has never given me one problem since the day i bought it May 19th 2005. Only problem other then the slave cylinder was i spun a bearing, which happens to about every 4g63. Plus 27psi on a stock bottom end its not gonna last forever.

you are gonna have a problem trying to get 300+ whp out of an ls. Do your self a favor and get an obd1 gsr. Cheaper and when you get tunned there is a very high chance the tunner will change it over to obd1 with a conversion harness anyway. Besides the look on an awd car owner's face when you beat them from a dig is priceless

I personally would go the the LS. Getting 300-330whp reliably out of an LS isn't a big deal. There are many guys on here making that, a few even with their stock bottom ends. Plus, parts are relatively inexpensive and abundant.
As for 1/4 mile times, I ran a 13.1 at 116 mph with a 2.6 60ft time at 220 whp and 230 wtq on my old set-up (LS-T in a eg coup). I haven't had a chance to run my car with the new set up (built block, head, and a bigger turbo-306 whp), but expect to be in the mid 12's somewhere. I don't have a LSD, traction bars, or drag radials.

no arguments but i have to disagree cause iv'e been with hondas and mitsubishi and hondas cant take abuse there easy to build have more tuner based stores but iv'e been thru nuff hondas they r sensitive i had a gst and a gsx and the only thing that broke was the air flow meter and i was pass its limits i over abuse my 4g63 but the ls garbage stick with gsr they r better but they have there limits

Re: Integra Ls Turbo or Eclipse Gsx?
Thanks for all the replies, I think im going to go with an LS.
Every single gsx iv looked at has either been non-operational, or has recently had its motor changed which makes me a little nervous. And after checking around it seems like a 4g63t motor is about $1000, versus an Ls motor which is about $400. I just hope I can find an lsd for a good price and that traction is not too much of an issue.

Re: Integra Ls Turbo or Eclipse Gsx?
gsx ftmfw lol its all preference my man i also had a gst and drove a gsx for a while
to me they are stout i,ve broken many hondas and yes they are fun
and i wide open shift my eclispe all day and over rev and the only car to die was my b18
i never had problems with the drive train on neither the gst or gsx
i would get a honda to start out on bcuz a gsx is more work complications and parts do cost more and u dont know what was done to the car,but once the car is built and taken care of there isn't anything better but a supra

i had a 97 gsx and now i have a 99 civic si.
if you plan on working on your car, get the integra.
the gsx was fun but slicks make up for that.

look around here long enough and youll find plenty street hondas that run 10s. it's nothing new in the honda community. look a lil' harder and youll see there are b series and d series engines running 8's. it's nothing new to see fast cars in a growing community. it's teh objective of the sport.

Re: Integra Ls Turbo or Eclipse Gsx?
u came to the wrong place to ask that question buddy lol
all i know is that when i had my gst no one in my hood wouldn't even try 2 race me i was already established then i crashed it n i usually had my girl drivng and now i got her a gsr and she is mad that it dont move like the gst or even the gsx
but on a real note a ls is a better plat form to start out on and they make good power when u start hooking it up (no ricer crap)
with me i find myself wacthing the rpms sounds and all kinds of crap on my teg but with the gst i just push the pedal and try my hardest to break it and it holds 2gether not the gsr had to rebuild it twice
