Default Intake as a charge pipe?

While researching homemadeturbo I found a guy who used an ebay intake as a charge pipe. It looked good, but I was just curious to how it would perform? I assume it would be fine, but I just want to make sure.

Specifically, I was going to do this with a 91 hatch, however with the battery the way it is intakes are made to snake around it. I planned to move the battery to the rear so is there any other model intake I could use that would go straight down into the fender?

He aslo used an OBX BOV, he said it worked fine, does anyone have any experiance with these, or any cheap aftermarket BOVs for that matter?

Don't even weld the nipple fitting. Use that as a vacuum source for your wastegate. Tial instructions prefer a nipple close to the throttle body so that works out perfectly. I like it better than tapping the compressor housing because it gets a reading that accounts for pressure drop across the intercooler.

Anymore opinions?

I was also considering the TurboXS Type H, anyone use that?

We ran out of piping on one of our projects and used an intake that wasn't being sold as one of the charge pipes w/ a TIAL BOV, and it works great. Just make sure you have the couplings to go with it.

HKS SSQV, one of the best choices out there for a lot of reasons, other than it being a pull type

Ok, Ill probably get an ebay intake and give it a shot.

The D series hatchback intakes do "snake" around the battery, do you think that could be a problem?

A ~$200-250 CAI hacked up as a charge pipe isn't really cheap per "homemade turbo" standards...but if it's free, then by all means go for it!

Mine was free. If it wasn't I would have bought an ebay cai and used that.

I used one on my turbo setup with the gsr manifold. Now I have a venom intake so I plan on using the integra LS cai that I ordered off of ebay. Here is a pic of my old setup:
