Hey im about to install my arp headstuds. Do you guys prefer using motor oil or the included moly lube?

Do you lube the threads that go into the block and the nut that goes on top, or just on or the other?

And if you use moly you go to 70ft lbs right? Anyone go over that?

it goes on the threads that are moving while torquing. i.e. the nut threads and the top of the studs. i prefer the moly it comes with. as does ARP.

cool so moly goes on the nut threads and the top of the studs only, none on the bottom threads (threads that go into block) is that right?

One more stupid question: I have a copper HG and oringed block, i want to just remove the stock bolts and replace them with the ARP and not replace the HG (its perfectly ok).

Can I just remove all the stock bolts, then replace with arp, or should i replace one bolt at a time torquing the arp nuts down to like 60ft/lbs and then move on to the next, so the gasket never gets fully uncompressed?

Yeah i know its half assed but its what i got to do. I just want to know what would be the best way to do it and maintain the seal/not warp the head...

I believe earl told me to lube up both bottom and top threaded portions. I also lubed up to top and bottom washers just in case. Check with earl and see what he says.

im pretty sure you can use either moly lube or engine oil. but if you you engine oil there are a diffrent set of torque specs that needs to be followed.

i think you should tighten them by hand first (correct me if im wrong) and then you can torque em down.

Use OEM, and use the moly (thats why they spent the money to provide it for you, they know that you have motor oil all over you already)

Light (and I do mean light) coat of oil on the threads that mate with the block. Use a light coat of moly lube on the other side's threads, the seat of the nuts, and the washers (both sides).
