im about to start my turbo project and i chose not to use the thicker head gasket to lower my comp. i have a stock block for now getting built for the winter. ive heard many stories what you can and can not do, but anything is possible with good tunning!
so i was wondering how many people are running on stock compression, what psi are you running on pump gas. and what are you running on race gas. i know you can run more boost on the lower compression but you also lose power . if you use a 2mm thicker gasket that will drop around 9 something somewhere around 30-40 pending mods, i know what my goals are and stock block wont cut it. but it will keep me happy for a few months. after talking to a few shops that done h22s they vary 430-465whp get better pistons and rod rings 480-500whp. dont hold me to this as i did not ask for dynos. i spent aleast 45-hr talking in person to these people and putting the facts together that suppoted each other. bottem line sleeve block lots of power! so if you our blocks can only handle so much lets say on the power side with deacent drive(keep in mind traction!) 350-380whp=420-456flywheel which is damn good. from what ive seen pep. that are running thinker hg on stock block are getiing 250-290 give or take for turbo and tuning at 8-9psi oh also take for us/jdm would be the higher numbers i have jdm. so if you keep stock comp your around 280-320 and better tork. =better hole shot faster spool! so i would like to know what psi your running and what kind of power your running. There is a huge write-up on page 4 or 5 on this forum on stock h22 and boost. Called "turboing a h22" look at that many of us have posted mods and engine setups. This will answer all your questions I'm sure.
