Inline fuel pump install
Hey fella's. Picked up an inline pump today for the civic. Going to put it on this evening. Is the send line from the tank rubber or steel? Where is the best place to mount it? What gauge wire should I use?
Any info ASAP would be great.
BTW its a carter inline off an late model Ford F150, but its really made by Walbro and is 125psi and flows 255lph. $150.00 Canadian brand new.

Re: Inline fuel pump install (Hybrid)
You want to run it between the fuel rail and the fuel filter. The line is plastic. I clamped my pump to the ac line. You can put it against the firewall but you'll hear it in the cabin its pretty noisy.

Re: Inline fuel pump install (Etylorcen)
I don't mean to beat a dead cat or any thing, but this is a fairly commom question, so having an "update post" so to speak on the board can't hurt.
Ok my fuel line from the filter to the fuel rail is a 5/16 rubber hose with banjo fittings. The lines from the tank are plastic beyond ~6" of rubber hose off the tank. Now under the tank is where people say its easier to install these things. But I think under the hood is easier, the only thing is to mount it on the fenders or firewall.
Those of you with inline fuel pump installs post up some pics if you got'em.
There is also the thing about the second relay.
Here is the schematic that artturbo posted up.

I have a 93 civic, where do I plug this sucker into, and do I run a wire directly off that to the pump on a fusable 20amp link? What will happen if I don't use the extra relay? I know people who run it directly off the main pump.
So right now I am going to mount it directly between the fuel rail and fuel filter. Run a power from either the existing pump relay.........................or install an extra relay.................if I knew where to put it. Then gound the pump on the fender and fire up the car. Hopfully then I an kiss detonation good bye. I figure the inline and a intank 8cyl stang pump will provide enough fuel.
Any one else?

Re: Inline fuel pump install (Hybrid)
Ok guy's I picked up this relay thingy, and I have art's diagram. So does this thing plug directly into this relay box and then run another wire off the relay to the pump, or do I just hookup the relay to an ignition wire and then to the pump and a ground? Do I need to run an inline 20amp fuse aswell with this or will the relay emliminate that?
Info please as I'm putting this puppy on tonight no matter what!

my friends and i ran it between the fuel filter and the fuel rail, ran a wire back to the fuel pump, and grounded it, the green/yellow wire is the one you splice. pretty easy install

Re: Inline fuel pump install (bretx0r)
I just hooked mine up. Took a couple of hours, but I don't have a garage, and I'm sure some of us know what that is like.
Anyway I picked up the relay, and wired it like the diagram art put up. It was easy and prob the quickest part of the install. I used 14 gauge wire for the ground, constant and stock pump signal, and 12 gauge to the pump and 12 gauge for a ground.
I tapped the fuel line between the fuel rail and the fuel filter.
So good for now.
