injector driver?
i'm not sure where to post this, so i thought i would put it in here
is a injector driver box needed for injectors over 1000cc?
i have a set of 880's up for sale and was gonna go with 1200's
or should i just go for the 1600's
my set up consists of:
85mm bore ls
manley rods
cp coated 10:1 pistons
aebs sleeved
00 b16 head with the ferrea roller rocker setup
golden eagle intake manifold
msd distributor
3in piping
precision 750hp intercooler
inline pro manifold with tial 40mm gate( want to upgrade to topmount)
precision pt76 turbo(which is for sale)
ls trans with prodrive axles and spool
aem 1040
i atleast want to get the bw s372 and hopefully topmount if i have the xtra$$

I wouldnt say you need it, but I highly recommend them. Low imp injectors run WAY WAY better using a driver box, u will get more precise control over them, most noticibly at lower pulse widths (idle, partial throttle).
From what ive seen on the flow bench comparing driver over a resistor pack, u will need ~40% MORE injector open time using a resistor pack to equal the flow of the injector on the driver. Also on the lower end, it has a smaller minimum injector open time, meaning the MINIMUM value to get the injector just to even open.
Here are some ball park examples with the popular Bosch 160lb that are so popular. 2ms on injector driver, you will need ~2.8ms or so on the SAME exact setup to be equivilant. For the minimum injector open time u might have something like 1ms with a resistor pack, using the driver it would be .8ms.

still needs a resistor pack
DO NOT run low imp injectors direct to an AEM EMS. They will run, yes, but the drivers will shut down and current limit themselves at mid/high rpm, you will hit a "rev limit" situation and the fuel map will look like lack of fuel pump.

My answer was regarding the injector driver box only.

if your runnin the aem EMS i would stick with the AEM injector driver. when you start mixing in different equipment with a EMS sometime things can get scratchy. thats why they always recommend there own products with there own EMS.
