Initial dyno results on my setup.
D16Y7 shortblock
D16Y8 head/intake, ported
B16 throttle body
Custom T3/4 turbo
DSM 450 injectors, AFC hack
Very untuned. Ran VERY rich. Very scary dyno run too, I thought it was going to explode. Everybody was coming over to see it since I had this done on the Dynojet at Speedtek in Dallas. They are all domestic guys, so this was pretty new to them they were pretty impressed at the little 96 cubic inch motor. There was a really cool guy with a Cobra in front of me that put down 272 HP, and he was all interested in my car, asking me all kinds of questions.
These are about the numbers I expected to see without it being tuned. They also did not have a fan going for mine since they had to turn the car the opposite direction of the others. I don't know how much if any power that made me lose, but the numbers got lower with each run, and I expect it's because the car was just getting hotter and hotter.
So, that's what I did today. My first trip to the dyno with an import.

I was set for 8 but they guy doing the deal said I was only hitting 6. After i fixed my boost leak the other day I broke one of my fuel rail studs, so I might still be leaking. I'm pretty sure I should have been hitting 8 though.

Yeah I told them to take it to 7000, which is what I usually run it up to, but apparently there's no use in doing so-looks like the power drops off pretty quick... I'm probably going to pick up a D16Y8 shortblock for building soon, which should rev a little higher a little easier. I think they redline about 500 RPM higher than mine, and I know there are differences between the internals of the two motors, but I don't know the specifics.
Also, being untuned, I had it running a little richer in the upper RPMs so I was probably losing power because of it. I'm just too cheap to have it tuned until I get a stand alone.

Under boost your A/F is rich indeed. If you had it tuned closer to 12:1 it would have better power.
Nice torque BTW.

Yeah I think the AFC was set to -40 up to like 4500 or 5000 RPM, then after that was -36 or something. I corrected that afterwards but was kinda worried about it holding up. That **** makes me nervous...won't be so bad once I get the standalone.

Re: Initial dyno results on my setup. (mplex2000)
that's nice numbers
i would expect 30 more WHP if it's tuned by the AFC? 50 WHP with standalone??
those guys at the dyno didn't know how to tune your car?? couldn't u do it urself with the AFC??
Also, can you guys explain that A/F ratio chart, i don't get it, it looks like it's VERY high like 15 at lower RPM range, is it??
man.. u were running RC 310 not too long ago, and u swapped them out to DSM 450 alreadY?? haha.. that's fast...
u got a inline fuel pump??

Ha, those guys dig my car but when you pop the hood on a Honda it's the same as talking Japanese to them. They don't know how to tune it, and they didn't give me a chance to hop in there.
There was a small accident involving a demolished Corvette outside (just purchased by an employee and loaned to a customer so he could pick up lunch) so they were running behind. I was in a time crunch, so even if I wanted to I wouldn't have had time for anything more than 3 fast pulls and then shoot back to the house.
Yep, I was only running those 310s for like 3 or 4 months. I have a Walbro intank. No high pressure so no need for an inline.

I got the "friend" price because I was good buddies with the Speedtek guys back when they were Supershops guys....$45 for 3 pulls.

BTW, for the Dallas guys ... apparently Jotech will no longer have a dyno at their disposal. Speedtek I guess bought out the place next door to Jotech, and that's where their dyno came from. It's about time too, I've been waiting for them to get a dyno since they opened ... in 1998!!!! Hell, I never even got to dyno my last Mustang!

Re: Initial dyno results on my setup. (mplex2000)
hard to tune w/ AFC if they dont know how to work it.
do u have a fuel gauge? what was ur fuel pressure?
do u have adj FPR? also if u get stand alone, u wont need the AFC.
good numbers for a 1.6. lots of torque too
id like to check it out when u get the chance. im in DFW also

Re: Initial dyno results on my setup. (Arturbo)
Yeah they would have let me mess with it if I had said something, but I was in a hurry. I had to pick up my kid back in Grapevine at 5, but of course I was way over on the other side of Dallas until 4:30...no time for tuning
$45 is Speedtek's price for dyno days, and they are great guys. Unless they are extremely expensive I try to buy everything I can from them since I have known most of them for so many years and they always get me the best pricing they can.

Re: Initial dyno results on my setup. (stick)
No fuel gauge or adj. fpr there, so i'm not sure. It has always run rich since I did the vtec head swap.
I know, I wish I could sell the VAFC to help pay for the AEM, but my car doesn't seem to like running on 450 injectors without it
Yeah man, one of these days we need to get everybody together and go out to the strip. I am trying to hold back until I am tuned so I can at least run some 13's if I'm lucky though
