Geting ready to boost a stock LS motor, in my '95 Integra.
BLOX mani
TiAL 38mm
SC 34 .57/.63
2.5" DP Flared to 3"
Spearco FMIC
255 intank
Hondata
RC 550s
AEM FPR ..... that pretty much sums up all the main components....
Planning to run somethin like 12psi and shoot for as close to 300WHP as I can get safely .... I'd be happy with 275 or so
...
First topic of discussion : SPARK PLUGS
Did some searchin and seems popular opinion is NGK BKR7E #6097 so thats what I am planning on.
1. Is that part # specifically a copper , platinum , or iridium plug ? Or available as any of the 3?
2. Wouldn't an iridium plug be the best choice for a boosted application?
Second topic : IGNITION
Planning to gap the BKR7Es to at or just under 30 and run a set of MSD 8.5mm "Super Conductor" plug wires.
3. Is there a relatively inexpensive yet reliable part that will increase intensity of my spark ?
Case in point - Is a "Blaster SS Coil" what I am seeking?

- Increases current without sacrificing voltage output!
Handles up to 40,000 volts!
Efficient "E-core" windings make the difference
Unique design reduces the chance of voltage breakdown between primary and secondary windings. Windings are completely sealed in epoxy and a tough Rynite housing for protection against water and vibration. Special vibration mounts included. Brass primary terminals on opposite sides of spark tower to prevent arcing. Use with stock or CD ignition. OBD II legal. -

Excellent. Just don't want to short change my self or my set up.

Thats good news.
Any advice on my plug questions?
Anybody seen the MSD wires for less than $88 <- O'rielys price

would I need the 6al to make use of the BlasterSS ? Trying to stay simple/cheap/effective if at all possible.

hmmm...maybe i'm wrong. I could have sworn i've heard a number of people say that stock ignition is good for big power though.

Stock ignition should be good to 400hp, however you need to make sure that you have a GOOD set of wires, good cap rotor, and that the plugs are gapped right. I dont reccommend using an external Coil with the stock honda ignitor. I have heard of a lot of people trying to do it and burning up the stock ignitor chip. Go buy the MSD 6al and the blaster ss coil, it should run you around 230 to 250 bucks. I would reccommend this on a FI cars making over 350hp Its easy to install and you will be assured of a HOT spark every time. , all motor setups and those with bolt on mods wont see **** in the way of HP gains by channging out to an msd setup" save your money and get a set of pluggs gapped properly and a a GOOD set of wires is all u need.
My stock ignition ran just fine at about 13-15psi. I now have the Digital 6, Blaster SS, Cap, and it run just the same (nice and smooth and no misses). I am still waiting for the damn 8.5 wires to come in

1. I wouldn't bother spending money on the iridiums, just use the normal plugs.
2. See above.
2a. Use the stock Honda spark plug wires. Those MSD wires are prone to having the boots come off. Not to mention on some dynos the pickup will not be able to make it through the thick wires.
3. I made over 500whp with the blaster coil and honda distributor/ignitor. In your case, I probably wouldn't even bother upgrading for 300whp.

I think I should ditch the 10 year old stock wires for sure.
I was really set on the MSD 8.5s too
... sadly enough one of the main reasons I wanted them is because they're red and I really think they would compliment my raw motor/valve cover nicely.
I would have no problem with the NGK wires , but I have only been able to find them in blue
just really not the vision I had for my engine bay ....
And Nology are hella exspensive
Anybody else had problems with the MSDs?
And so I should just get the standard copper plugs ?
Thanks
