Default Ideal Spring Pressure on a Blow Off Valve?

Does anyone have any tips or tricks to setting the spring pressure on a bov?

Should I wait til I get on a dyno and just tighten it until it doesnt bleed boost at full boost while at wot? or just tighten it now until it stays close until manifold pressure reaches or surpasses 5 in/hg? (just throwing a number out there)

Thanks in advance,
Kris

Well, Im getting my hands on a recirculation kit. Im going to mount it onto the BOV, run a hose into the car, and then tighten the BOV little by littel until it stays fully sealed at full boost.

i think he means the adjustment screw, not the actual spring.

I just tightened mine turn by turn until it didnt blowoff unless my car was in boost

Isnt it possible that that is too tight though? Ideally you would want the spring rate to be as soft as possible without leaking boost. I think that even though you are under vacuum you would still want the BOV to go off since the turbo is still capable of producing positive pressure in the charge pipes once the throttle is closed. I could be wrong here however.

on my gen1 SSQV i have the adjustment screw all the way out so there is no preload on the spring. It blows off in low vacuum like if its getting really close to 0 or something itll let out a lil cha cha cha. But it doesnt leak boost....

From my understanding of things the BOV uses boost to kep it closes then when vacuum hits it sucks the valve open. I could be wrong tho im just guessin from what i see....

Anyway when we pressure tested my system with the screw all the way loose (car off) the BOV did not leak any boost...
