Default I think my Hondata S300 Is Fried!!!!! HELP

Posting for a Friend

i had my ECU resocketed by hondata cause i thought i might have messed up somewhere. So i get the ECU back and i install the daughterboard and when i start my car it immediately dies. So i reupload a ROM using the Current 1.6 Version

Now if i install my Virgin P30 car fires right up and has no issues running. But if i plug the hondata ECU back in then the car just dies. i have the Early Version of the daughter board on the first releases..

I have no clue why this would happen but first day the hondata was in it ran like a champ for about 3 hours then it died while i was driving. i thought it was a motor issue. so i pulled the motor and tore it down and found nothing wrong with it. Put it all back together tried to start the car and it wouldnt. threw in the p30 and purr's like a kitten.

Here are some pix of the board. I tried to call hondata 4 times today and didnt get through at all. Im very upset since i got my motor rebuilt and i bought the hondata from Ben @ importparts.com when he was accepting the Pre orders for the S300

Here are the pictures.

Did u socket it yourself first?

I would try another ecu with hondata or try your hondata in a friend's car to see if it starts their car.

This isnt my car. this is my friends car.. now if i put the hondata into my car it does the same thing. But if i put my hondata into his car it will start. ( We are both running the S300)

Ive tried every possible map that would pysically start the car and it will not start with HIS hondata. but his car will run just fine on my p30 or my S300.

Did u try putting his s300 in your P30?

Try that, if that doesnt work you might have a bad board.

I recently ran into an issue with a S300 that was throwing phantom code 3s. Car would run for a while like a champ then out of nowhere - code 3 MAP sensor. (3bar GM - Motec option selected) I soldered two sockets together so that a Crome chip could be used in the same ECU the S300 came out of and it has been running flawlessly for some time now. Waiting on a RMA of the S300 board to finish tuning the car - kinda sucks. I guess even commercial engine management solutions have issues sometimes.

Sorry i typed that out wrong. the Motor was Rebuilt. then the hondata messed up and didnt work any more.

He had smoke coming out his intake manifold so he tore down the motor just to look everything over. but everything was fine. put it all back together

Tried to start the car but no luck. put in a p30 ECU and it runs fine. Put his hondata back in the car starts for one second and dies.. I Cut the J1 jumper in his ECU and the car started right up witht he Hondata ECU. Reconnected the J1 Jumper and the car starts and dies again

did you try just a burned rom (no s300 board) in his ecu? Just try loading a stock p30 bin through crome or uber and see if it still fires up with no CEL's or Solid CEL (bad ecu or chipping job).

are you getting a CEL? might be solder joints.....the first time i tried to chip my ecu was an unsuccessful attempt. car started but i had a CEL and motor didnt sound all too healthy so i cut j1 and it ran perfectly. I ended up cleaning up the solder job and it ran like a champ.

Sounds to me like you guys messed the board up when you originally socketed it yourself, we get them in all the time where people have messed up the board and in some cases fried the entire ecu.

i took his ECU over to a Local computer company to check it out.. there is continewity (SP??) between all the pins and the board. solder joints are all good. No pins or connections are touching one another. They looked at the board and all the Tracs are there. one of my first assumptions was there was lifted tracks but there isnt. I put his hondata in on my S300 Board and the car did the same thing. but if i use my S300 in his ECU his car runs fine

You need to burn a regular old non hondata chip and put it in the car to narrow the problem down.

If the chip works, the ecu/chipping job is fine and the Hondata unit is defective. If not, its the other way around.
