Default I need a lesson in AEM school, EMS professors SCHOOL ME!!!

Ok, I am currently putting my project h22 cx together, I should be breaking in my motor by next weekend. It is a low compression setup, built for boost. Due to the fact that I don't have a good base tune for my AEM, and that I don't have my wideband (YET, that's next!) I will be breaking this motor in with a stock header, and stock injectors, and factory ECU. After break in I need to know how to tune the AEM EMS, for my h22 stup: 8.8:1 wiseco, skunk2 valvetrain, t3/t04e, 720cc squirters, GM 3 bar MAP sensor (I have it, but won't install until after break in), Apexi boost solenoid, on a street car. Oh, and I have the 1001 EMS.

Quickie list of what I know:
Download a base map, closest to my setup, probably a B16 or B18 boosted calibration.

Where do I go from here? What tables modify what? What is an effective way to stay safe while tuning? What are some helpful SAFE shortcuts if any? HOW DID YOU LEARN/ AND GET TO YOUR CURRENT STATE OF TUNE?

How do I setup the AEM to control boost with my apexi boost solenoid?

I can take the car to Horsepowerfreaks.com, it is about 3 hours away, but I would like to do it myself if that's not too risky, or at least get the basics down, I used the EMS to run my stock CX for about a couple of weeks before the h22 project came into full affect so I am SOMEWHAT AEM literate. Please just post anything about the EMS that you have figured out that has made your tuning easier!!!!

Damn, I was asking him questions last night, hope he's not mad.

boost control info is here You may have to experiment to get the frequency of the apexi solenoid but I assume the set up is probably similar to the gm boost solenoid.

edit: more specific info here

I am on the EMS board frequently, reading other peoples posts, and trying to understand all of the 100,000,000,000 functions of the system. I am looking for specific helpful hints/tips that have helped EMS tuners tune a car.
For example: (this is addressed to experienced tuners only)
What are the functions you use most when tuning a car, which tables/graphs, etc. And how do you modify them to get the results you want.
