Default I need an honest opinion from you folks.

Since I joined this board awhile ago, I know you guys are the most mature out of any other HT board. This is why I want your honest opinions.

i've setup a couple choices below...

as you guys know, i'm trying to sell my car. I need to sell it because I really want to pay off my debts and start fixing up my house. With this car, I can't. Maybe later on, I will get something new and start fixing it up again.

If you were looking to buy a car and were also planning on fixing it up, which route would you prefer? Which setup of the car would allow the car to be sold faster? Please don't vote what would be best for me, rather... vote according to what you would buy if you were searching for a car

the choices below:

1) Virtually Stock - minor mods, but stock GSR motor and tranny. Basically as stock I can get it to be. The problem with putting the car to full stock is that I changed the fuel lines in the car with braided teflon hosing. So, the car cannot be taken or traded into the dealership.
Minor mods include - apexi n1 exhaust, aem CAI, vis coilovers, kyb shocks, autometer fuel pressure gauge, aem fuel rail, aem fpr, front / rear / rear lower bars.

2) Built engine - as per https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=152308

IMO

A car with any tuner parts, turbo, or aftermarket parts will be viewed by me as being beat. If you put race parts on it, you must be racing it, right? I would pay LESS for a built car since I know it was beat.

Who here builds up a motor and turbo and then drives it like a grandma? Yeah, I didn't think so.

Also, unless you can prove the build-up I always say it wasn't done. If I don't see a receipt signed by the rebuilder referring to the engine block number. It can be totally BS. Unless I know the person or car, I would treat as if it was a beat stock car.

Sorry, but its a buyers market out there and there are way more stock cars to choose from and negotiate a better price. With the economy down people are desperate for cash and you can really get a good deal if you are a buyer.

Not really what you wanted to hear, but hey, its a dog-eat-dog world. Get used to it.

I think that most of US would like to buy it built... but we are a VERY SMALL minority in the car buying public. If you reduced it to stock engine w/ bolt-on mods as you described it would be more desireable to like 98% of buyers. You can get more parting out your nice stuff anyway.

in general i would prefer virtually stock, but reading through your other post and all your mods, i would much rather buy a car that's already fully built like that, especially with a brand new engine. PLUS i think you should sell it that way, as it's an excellent package. If i lived closer to chicago i would consider it, since i've always wanted an integra instead of a civic

I think most of the driving population perfer stock cars and they usually have no idea exactly whats going on internally meaning they are generally ignorant of the inner workings. Moreover, people tend to go with what they know and that would by stock. Your mods would be lost on them. If you try to sell it built, you will have seriously cut your available pool of buyers.

It is very hard to say it is oviously more apealing when it is in its beastly stage fully built but the problum is not very many people can just wip out the top doller for a toy that is way to nice to just drive to work everyday. I would say you could make more money selling all your parts and giting like 14-16k for just a lightly modded car.
well let me know if you do that i get first dibs on all your parts

Hmm, I would definately want the car bone stock.

As much as I like you TurboT ( ), I think most people want to do the work themselves.

Granted, you could probably find some very happy riceboy running around that would take the car modified... but I doubt this is the sort of person that would appreciate the amount of effort put into your car.

i'll prolly get flamed for this but imo if i was going to buy a car that i wanted to sell later and not take a huge loss due to the mods i would by an older mitsu turbo eclipse. they're easy as hell to make fast w/ very little money and mods.

what i'll probably end up doing is option 1....

put the car back as far stock as possible...

sell it for $14k...

41k miles, $14k.... that's pretty reasonable..

now do you guys want to see the stuff i have forsale?

If you are trying to fix up your house.. you know damn well that once you start boosting your going to want to increase a little here and a little there... "oh well it wont hurt a thing if I get some 720's and turn it up a little"
If you have enough self control you may be able to pull it off.

If knew you personally, or through a good friend who I felt was a good judgement of character, I'd buy the car from you built, but...

Otherwise I would choose stock... and even in that case I would be more apprehensive due to the possibility of the car having an unstellar prior history. Even the title alone doesn't always reveal the complete and total truth. My car has stuff done to it that never went on record. This of course comes from the perspective of a buyer who has no prior knowledge of the owner or the car's history.

HTH

Buy the way, glad to hear you have your priorities on order...
