last night I was driving with a friend in my turbo GSR hatch and he was driving then he turned to me and said there wasn't any boost. I got in the car and drove it and indeed there was something wrong, when it boosted to around 1 psi or so it would start to dump and the blow off valve sounded like it was under water. I didn't want to hurt the car anymore but had no choice to drive it home. I kept it under 2500 and any type of boost for the entire drive home, the motor sounded and acted just like a normal NA GSR but when I came to a stop sign the motor out of nowhere died and when I went to crank it back over it sounded like there was absolutely no compression. I haven't had time to do a leak down test or anything yet however I checked the oil and it was at a good level and very clean. oh and when I did step on it a little it sounded like the compressor wheel was scraping but when I let the car cool down the turbo didnt have any shaft endplay and it spun freely. WHAT THE HELL COULD HAVE HAPPENED? The engine is a stock gsr running an ITR intake cam and a fully tuned ecu. but yeah I dont' know anymore about what it could be.

^^ That is not good. Mine made that scraping sound when my car was on the dyno ......my turbo would not build any boost......It was junk....needed a major rebuild.

Lucky my mechanic had several turbo's lying around.

well see the thing is I have everything to rebuild the turbo and I was going to start on it this weekend. I was messing with the turbo this morning and it didn't have any shaft play but yeah. I'm starting to think I jumped a couple teeth on the timing, I'm gonna do a couple tests and I'll let you know what I find.

 

I guarantee you the turbo is junk.......rebuild it if you have the supplies.
