Default .48 a/r 50 trim Garrett T3/T04E

I've been searching around and found that a lot of people suggest the t3/t4e 50 trim with .48a/r turbine for LS motors due to the good spool up. I was wondering though with a built head at around what rpm would I be looking at full boost and on this particular turbo where does it run outta room hp wise? I want really good boost respone but around 400 hp capability.

no clue about the full boost rpm on this, but you are using an ls. Why would you want an incredibly low boost threshold???? You will have enough issues with traction as it is. Granted your upper rpm is limited compared to a b16 or gsr, but if that turbo spools to early then you will just sit and spin, while the guy with the n/a gsr/b20v or .63 a/r turbo pulls on you. Unless you are using a good boost controller or have that (boost control that is) option built into your ems you want a little bit higher boost threshold in a turbo. I wish people would consider this. You have to compromise one thing for another. If you don't have the equipment to control that early boost a larger turbine a/r might be just what the doctor ordered. All I ever see is "I want fast spool and a gazillion hp and a million tq." How will you put this to the wheels? Takes more than just a turbo to make your ride fast.

As far as the upper limit of the compressor.......

I'm running an avc-r so I don't have to worry about the traction issues.......i can adjust how much boost im running at what rpm in which gear.

Then throw the 50 trim or 57 trim on there and call it a day......

I have the turbonetics 50 trim .48A/R nad wish I would've went with a 57 trim .63A?R. My friend had the 57 trim ^ on his LS and got boost around 3600rpms. His lag was like traction control and top end pulled real good. On my setup running 5psi I destroy my tires, it spools up around 2800rpms. If I could trade mine for the 57 trim it would be a done deal.. Plus your getting head work done go with the 57 trim .63 A/R. It feels like my turbo is a supercharger it spools so quick and I hate it. GL with your decision.

ohh yeah it holds and I could up the boost if I wanted but I want to get a new spring or a good boost controller. I bought a MBC and it spiked to 11psi and didn't want to stop. That was a crazy feeling I can't wait to up the boost.. I just hate how I don't have any traction.

Lag is a cheap fix for traction, it's not the right way to do things. Get some better tires/rims, LSD, traction bars, now we're talking. BTW, the 50 trim is much more efficient than a 57 trim and capable of nearly the same amount of power.

I have good rims/tires and LSD. I just need a boost controller. I was comparing my 50 trim and my friends 57 trim. I just like how his 57 trim spooled up compared to mine. I could just use a good boost controller. Your right as far as both turbos support about the same power 475hp i believe. I don't ever think I'll hit that mark. The 50 trim does have a great powerband from full throttle "low rpm's" all the way to redline. It is a great turbo and I love it.

Your seeing the results here just think of what kind of powerband you want and make a decision from that. good luck

Hence why my friend and I can't find a 50 trim right now. He called a company and asked for one and the person on the other end said that they are no longer selling them because people buy them and want to switch to the 57 or 60 trims.

That's BS. Garrett and Precision both make the 50 trim and plenty of places stock them.

Well, the one company he called doesn't carry them anymore.

I want a 50 trim because it should be enough to get my SOHC to the 300 mark and my buddy's F22 to the 250 mark.

The guy also said that a stock F22 can't take more than 8 pounds, which I thought was wierd. I thought that the block was "HP limited" as opposed to "boost limited"

I just know the company had them listed at 550 shipped so I was psyched.

I still think a 50 trim would be perfect for my friend and I.

It is horsepower that matters not boost. Whoever you talked to at the company had no idea what they are talking about. Here's a Garrett 50 trim for $619 you can order right now.
