I am new!!:) help me with my turbo setup
Hey, I am new here. I am from a number of boards and came here to hopefully learn some more.
I want to go turbo and was thinking about many of the different kits but after looking at them and the numberof things people seem to replace with them , I am thinking of going custom.
I have almost no idea what is a good turbo.
i was thinkign turbotecnics t3/t4 turbo but heard it isnt good for some reason.
i need help !
i will go with a spearco intercooler
tial wastegate
blitz bov
walboro pump
310 or 440 injectors
some fuel managing system(hondata etc)=> dont know what to get here either
gauges
timer ,control etc
and eventually build the engine up.
what kind of piping would i get. do companies just sell piping for turbo?
help
thanks
i drive a 00 SiR(or Si to the US peops)

Importparts.com sells just the Drag Piping if you need it. You seem to know what you want, just get a drag 3 or Rev-Hard turbo kit.

If you dont know enough to build your own kit you should just buy a drag kit and be done with it. If you dont know enough to even build your own IC piping.. you should definitely just go with a prefab kit.

I think you're the ClubSI/DSCR guy, right?
You can do what KidKutz did. Buy all the piping, ic, downpipe from F-Max without the injector bosses. He's using an FMU, but go one better with the Hondata. Or if you get a Haltech I could help you out.

yup.i am the clubsi/dscr guy
i htink kits are dumb! with the drag kit you have to replace stuff and the turbo seems to have probs. the greddy kit: the fcu(blue box) is a waste above 5psi. and the times are not that impressive!
it just makes more sense to make up my own kit.

Here, I'll make your decision very simple for you. Heed these words, they tend to be true:
If you are impatient, not mechanically inclined, or do not understand mechanicals very well, buy a prefab kit.
If you are patient, mechanically inclined, understand mechanics, and want to save money, make your own kit.
It takes a lot of time and effort to piece your own kit together, many trips to the store, and lots of organization. If you don't plan it right, it could cost you more than a prefab kit would. It's that simple, really, it is.

i bought just f-max piping from...mm mmrusa.com. It was cheaper, and better quality to get it premade then have it made for me.

most t3/t40e turbos can only accept a 2.5" downpipe. But what you do is flare that 2.5" downpipe into a 3" pipe. Then route that into a 3" cat (or test pipe) and into your 3" exhaust.

Re: I am new!!:) help me with my turbo setup (Arturbo)
BTW - how much does that nice shiny Drag piping cost? What about F-Max? Damnit, I bought the Greddy piping but it needs a lot of extra pipe to be complete since I didn't buy their turbo kit.
Also, if you buy the Drag or F-Max piping, does it come with a BOV flange already? I'm using the TurboXS so I'd have to change the flange if it does.
