Default How would I lower boost pressure ?

I want/need to run low to minimum possible boost for a few days in the near future.

What would be the best way to do this without removing the turbo/manifold ?
Would disconnecting the intake piping from i/c have much negative effect on the turbo's compressor side ?
Should I set the boost to minimum instead (I would prefer little to no pressure over atmospheric) ?

I believe it is generally recommended to not remove IC piping and instead wire the wastegate open.

disconnect upper hose to the tb and and run a filter to the tb. thats the easiest since the upper pipe is just one pipe

I THINKING ABOUT THAT BUT THEN THE TURBO WOULD SPIN REALLY FAST. AND WOULD MOST LIKELY EXCED THE SPEED THAT IT WAS DESIGNED FOR.

I ON THE OTHER HAND WOULD SOME HOW PRY THE WASTE GATE OPEN. IF YOU HAVE AN INTERNAL WASTEGATE IT SHOULD BE MUCH EASIER, SINCE YOU HAVE THE ARM.

isn't the backpressure from the turbo harmful for your motor when you run with the ic piping dusconnected for an extended period of time? i know this happened to me before as well as my friend, & both of us had the same result, overheating.

Yeah, but also referring to the other responses on the post, wouldn't the turbine experience less resistance in pressure and therefore spin too quickly (possible damage over the course of maybe 5-7 days of regualar driving ?

What if you open up the wastegate and block off the turbo exhaust?

It's just an idea. I personally wouldn't try it, seems like something would get screwed up.

I think the most logical way without removing the turbo, is to force the wastegate open, no pressure on the turbine = no boost.

So what did you do, just set the boost controller to the lowest setting ?

self control! no one says you HAVE to floor it. you can have a car capable of 30psi, but if you never floor it, it wont be a problem. just restrain yourself for a few days and set you boost controller to 0, if its at 0 the most youd prolly see is 1-1.5psi

Well, the whole point of this post is because I will need to break in a freshly rebuilt motor and would prefer to do it sans boost.
Would the 1-1.5 psi that the motor might see on the 0 setting of my BC be a negative, or would 1psi not do any harm ?

your motor will never notice 1psi, it wont harm anything during break in

the only time mine saw boost was in cruze control, even then it was like 1psi. its all about self control man. Just say to your self while your driving "I know if I punch it i might have to rebuild it again" Hopefully that keeps you out of boost.
