how much timing to pull for a 10:1 compression
i have a Drag kit on a GSR motor that has 10:1 compression.
how much timing should be pulled out per pound of boost?
currently i have it set at .85 retard per lb, but is that too much?

The only true way to find out if your running the best amount of timing is to get on a dyno and find out where Mean brake (some people say best) trq. is and tune from there. An inexpensive way to find out if your running too much timing is to build what is called a det. can. If you search under the archived topics, theres a post on how to make one. The topic title is det cans I believe. You could also invest in the J&S safeguard that pulls timing from the cyl. that is reading knock. Its not cheap tho. Then again, throwing in another motor isnt eathier.... Whats your fuel setup? If your running the FMU, I would highly suggest installing an inline high pressure pump and making sure you have the proper Air fuel ratios under boost. Another cheap and effective option instead of putting in an inline pump is to have your ECU chipped and run CROME or Uberdata where you can adjust your timing and fuel maps. You will have to get some bigger injectors (DSM 450s can easily be had) and a bigger fuel pump and have somebody who knows what they are doing tune it. Good luck
