how much boost(Stock D16Y8)
Quick question guys wondering how much boost I can run on a fairly stock SOHC VTEC engine. Only upgrades will be a new OEM headgasket. Need some suggestions for Injector size? AEM Fuel rail, Fuel Pressure regulator and filter and a new set of spark plugs and wires. Also thinking about going with at least 2-2.5 inch piping to the cat, gonna run the Apexi N-1. Gonna use a Saab intercooler that will fit my front grill and a 14b Mitsubishi turbo. Sorry if this is hard to understand just trying to give you a quick run through on my set up. My main concern is how much boost. I want 10psi tuned by Hondata S200.

About 10-12psi after that you will perhaps not be detonating but your rods will probably snap! Anything more then 220whp is pushing a stock D series rods to far!! I would only run 8-9psi daily as well if you want it to be reliable.
While I am typing I'll save you some money if you want..
Things you will not need to replace nor will you gain anything in replacing them are: Fuel Rail, Wires and Regulator..
450cc injectors will work well, get at least a 2.5inch exhaust mandrel bent 3inch is better though.
Get dyno tuned from the start and you will be happy.

I'd go with the AFC hack, with at least 440cc injectors. Have you seen D-series rods before? They're toothpicks. I know people have boosted in the double digits before, but I personally don't trust stock rods.

Re: how much boost(Stock D16Y8) (BoostedED9)
look at my sig, 220 is not the threshold of a dseries rod bro, this motor has almost 30dyno pulls nad over 10 track passes and it still runs strong

Hey man yeah I have seen your posts and setup etc... You are living on the edge!!! I wish you luck, but Generally speaking anything over 220whp is really pushing the limits for standard d series rods... Ask guys like ABAZ who have gone through multiple d series engines..
What kind of power or boost level do you use for everyday driving??
My car has been boosted over a year now done about 20000kms without a problem, I want it to carry on that way to

On a side note, which of you D-series owners are using the VAFC hack? Did you dyno tune the engine with the hack setup? How'd everything go? Good a/f numbers? The techs didn't have any problems tuning with the hack setup? Just wondering because I'll be getting dyno tuned with the AFC hack setup in March, and my shop isn't familiar with the VAFC used like that. Just making sure there won't be problems and ****.

I run the VAFC HACK with RC 440 injectors and stock internals, and curently bosting .70 BAR. by the way how much boost is .70BAR in PSI? I know 1 BAR is 14.xx but just curious.

Re: how much boost(Stock D16Y8) (MAKURAGI)
Most honda stock D16's engines can handle 38-45% more hp. My numbers may not be exactly correct but ther close. If i were you just keep it to 6-8psi. Im not saying you can go higher. I don't know who's tunning your car. Your tunner should be able to help you.

Boosted ED9...are you running a 3bar MAP sensor with the afc hack? how are you going over 2bar? Props. I'm running a smaller turbo/intercooler on my z6 with a 6btm and DIY MAP hack, like a ghetto afc do you have any problem with knock on street gas? I'm thinking of adding water/alcohol injection for some added security and boost!

Re: how much boost(Stock D16Y8) (ion_four)
Sorry, but those are not approx. numbers, they are exact. So, if you have no data to back this up, it is coming from your ***. Many people are running 10+psi with the afc-hack, which produces about 65% over stock (10/14.7 ~~ .66
