Default How much boost do i dare push?

I am in the home stretch of putting together my turboed B18c1 1992 non Vtec hatchback. It has an eagle 1.9 liter stroker crank and forged rods, ross pistons, unknown aftermarket cams and valvetrain. The block is not sleeved and i dont have a block guard for it. I am wondering how much boost i can safely push and still make this car last for a while.

out of all the advice your going to get on here i will say talk to the person that is going to be tuning the car. it depends on how much compression the motor has, how well it was put together and with how well it is tuned.

most limiting factor of this is whether ur running pump gas or not. and for the 1000th time 8 psi from a gt28r vs a gt35r are two different circumstances.... one flows more then the other... durrrr... your tuner will tune to what he trust it can handle...

It's not a question of "psi", it's a question of power, torque, cylinder pressures, and how good your tuner can keep detonation & knock at bay. Different turbos make different power at the same pressure level, so it'll come down to the proper size turbo for what the purpose of the car is, what fuel is used, and your tuner's capability.

I know I sound like a broken record, but here goes: "Choose a whp goal, not a psi goal. Discuss that goal with your tuner, and if he's comfortable with it, he will use whatever psi your setup will give him to make that goal."

Are you using the vtec killer cams...? didn't know the c1 came non-vtec.

And this is a question you dont talk about on here...or bring up. Just do a quick search and it wont take long to figure out why

It was a joke lol. I know what killer cams do and they are also great for a shitty mileage Honda

On the topic of block guards...the local shop was doing something I dont see much. They were putting a block guard a cm or so out of the deck, tigging the guard to the deck, then surfacing it smooth. After this the holes will be drilled out to match the coolant ports on the HG. If you are thinking of a block guard I would recommend that. Makes a Honda almost into a closed-deck block
