how much boost on a d16 rods?
i'm broke and goin to school, your basic excuse for a ghetto bastard, anyways, my boy got some extra turbo parts aside and i plan to boost my DX hatch, stock dx motor, how much boost you guys think the rods can handle as a daily driver, and also anyone know of a manifold wit external wastegate for the d16? will the y8 turbo manifold fit on the y7 block? i'm tryin to keep this a non-vtec, and just run a y8 intake manifold...thanks
SOHC rods are known to be very weak, usually a small shot less than 60shot nitrous or approx 7psi of boost depends on size of turbo of course. This is the general thumb I've seen but some people have proven it wrong. D series rods are very weak and thin but again we have an old 90 Si motor in a 90 hatchback junkyard turbo kit Saab turbo T3, DX exh mani, Deltagate, etc etc has run a best of 12.0 and many 12.20s with 15psi or so, he turned it up to 20psi t see if he could break into the 11's or blow it up but showed no improvement. He also put street tires back on and ran a 12.90.
I used to think SOHC wasn't worth it but they can be made fast also. I'm waiting for the BS flaags now. I'm sure I can get the timeslips posted and some pics of the car too. All I can saay is Aaccuracy Automotive built the cara dn tuned it, also AFC and some 87-92 Supra Turbo 440cc injectors. I wouldn't trust more than 10psi myself.

Homemadeturbo.com has a few CRX's that's running 8-10psi on stock internals. I wouldn't push it past that amount, even with the AFC hack.
As for an ext WG on the manifold, try Drag or RevHard.

Our Y7 was making 200 whp at 14 lbs at 5500 ft elevation on the old 14B, since then we switched the turbo to a 16G, but I'm not sure how much he's running now and it hasn't been back to the dyno yet.......because our elevation is worth like 3 psi, I'd say 10-11 lbs is about the max you'd want to run....
