when it goes through the intercooler the pipes after that should cool it down. thats what the ic is for. before teh intercooler is usually hot. if your worried you can get something to wrap the pipes up.

Did you install the turbo on opposites day? I've heard of that happening before...

Basically you need to find a way to vent out some of the heat out of your engine bay. You can double stack washers the old hotrod way where the hoot attaches to the latch. This lifts the hood a bit at an angle and hot air will flow out of the compartment near the windshield. You can also try wrapping your piping with insulation wrap or thermal coat the piping.

If you have your upper charge pipe ceramic coated it will reflect some of the engine bay's heat and keep your IAT's a bit lower.

I thought exhaust wrap would retain heat in the intercooler piping.

It does, that's why you shouldn't wrap it. I have aluminum piping to the TB, which helps get rid of some heat. But Mine is also still warm, I am going to do the washer trick soon too, Cowl induction style.

If you have normal IAT's on an intercooled setup your engine bay temps will be significantly hotter than the charge air temps, so it would be beneficial to insulate the pipe from absorbing any more heat.
