what vacuum level does your turbo D series idle at?
curious... i think i may have mad vacuum leaks which obviously would turn into boost leaks.....
it idles at 14 in/hg MAXIMUM. right after it starts its more like 10.
If i do have a vacuum leak, where are good places to check this?
thanks guys!

mine idles around 21-22 in/hg. check your bov, wastegate, by your intake manifold. pretty much anything you T'd off.

18 when the motor is cold (ie. morning startup)
20 at idle when the motor is warmed up
22 when i let off the throttle

Re: (93turbo16)
To check for a vacuum leak use carb cleaner and spray all hose/gasket connections after the tb one by one. The idle will rise once you have sprayed carb cleaner through the opening that is causing the leak.
good luck

Re: (hatchback_al)
hmmm, so now that i know what you guys run, any suggestions abotu finding vacuum leaks, i will do the carb cleaner one. Note: i was idling the same PRE TURBO. i think its just posing more of a problem now.
what controls the vacuum system? a pump? i'm a dumbass when it comes to this...
any suggestions on any component that may have failed? thanks a bunch!

Re: (s1ngle)
It will be a leak probably from one of the vacuum lines that come off your inlet manifold or perhaps the inlet manifold gasket is shot. Either that or your motor is shot. Compression test would most likely tell you if its the engine.

Re: (dragoon)
i actually started paying attention to my boost gauge more often after reading this, on my d15b i generally have -25 at idle, after a hard run its more like 20. i wonder why im pulling more vacuum than most, can a vacuum block make a difference?
