how high of comp piston can i go on b16?
i have been thinking of how do build my b16 when building it for boost. i am getting some eagle rods and new pistons (haven't decided on which ones yet) and filling the block.
i have been told to get 10:1 or lower pistons for boost but i was wondering if it would be a bad idea to get 10.4:1 so that it would perform like a stock b16 unitl i build boost.
i am planning on running 15-20 psi and don't want to blow it the first day running. just want to know the highest i can run safely (<--keyword) on 92 octane pump gas and good tuning using crome.
thanks in advance

the difference between 8:1 and 10:2:1 is like 3whp.
just get 9:1. its a good compromise and people have made amazing power on 9:1

If you bump up the compression ratio on a b-16 2-2.5 whole points it'll gain more than 10 whp ! and its proven all the time !

The higher compression pistons you run, the more prone your engine will be to detonation. If you are planning on running 20 PSI of boost with 92 octane pump gas, I'd want as much safety margin as I could get. Even at 8.5:1, if anything goes wrong, then you will destroy your pistons in a few seconds at 20 PSI. 20 PSI is a lot of boost, so get some low compression pistons and get as much insurance as you can. I ran 20 PSI with 93 octane pump gas for 9 months with no problems on Wiseco 8.4:1 pistons.
Low compression (8.5:1) gets my vote, you'll make tons of power with those and 20 PSI and good tuning.

I had my motor built at 84mm 10.5:1 compression, I believed all this crap about quicker spool and great off boost response from the high compression, but it was all hype. Much more satisfied with my 9:1 motor on the street now.
