i forgot how to explain this.. but boost is just a figure... you can run 10psi if you want on a good tune and it should be fine.. as long as the motor is healthy.. or u can run 4psi on a shitty tune and go kabom

i dont think boost is in direct corrilation with horsepower. just like siregcivic said. yes adding boost add power compaired to NA but it depends on the setup

Hes trying to run 17psi but his charge pipe couplers keep blowing off. Thats the only reason it stopped there. It'll be running alot more boost than that when it's done. BTW, the engine isn't stock.

On a boost engine you should rather upgrade the Rods and pistons first. The Valvatrain should hold up pretty good well over 200whp+.

just like everyone else said, it is all in how you tune and what you tune on. I had a greddy kit on my D16Z6 and i had the blue box so no need to tune really. but with that i would only boost 8psi on 93oct. pump gas. anything over that you could hear signs of detonation. so at the track i would boost 10psi on 100oct. with no signs of detonation.

look at it like this .. the higher you boost . the lower your window for ******* up is. all it takes is one little mishap and kaboom goes your motor.

8 psi you still can blow your motor but while tuned. your saftey net is pretty large. once you start wanting to run 14-16 psi on a stock motor. you better keep your maintenence up to par, comppression check every oil change, change your oil often and always get good gas ( NEVER EVER EVER EVER CHEAP OUT ON GAS) change spark plugs every oil change etcc. this is the only REAL way to keep yoru car reliable in all cases. its not like all motor set and forget it .

Everyone here is right: Tuning is key.
Assuming you get the tuning all in one sock, though, its making too much power/torque that will pop your bottom end.

And when dealing wiht power numbers its not BOOST that determines how much power you make, its AIRFLOW.

On a small turbo, you can get away with more boost on a weak bottom end because it pushes less air.

Get a big *** turbo, run it at a PR like 17lbs and you'll blow the bottom end of a d16 to bits.
