Default Little Bastard: My project car (lots of pics)

I picked up this car cheap last winter and am working on it a little bit at a time. Plans are for a stripped down drag race car that is streat legal so it can be driven to the track.

Looks good from outside - but you have to do a lot of work now

Have phun with this car!

EDIT: you want to run the T3/T04e turbo on a D16Z6? Holy sh*** that's for drag race. I run a Turbonetics T3/T04e Turbo on a B18C6 engine - and it isn't to small for that motor.

I was planning to get the car thru e-check with the original d15b1, but the head gasket was blown and it was using a bit of oil. So out it came.

Motor mount inserts ready to go:

New engine ready to go in:

A d16z6 looks kind of odd with DPFI, doesn't it. It passed e-check that way though. The vice grips were the only thing holding the OBD0 distributor to the engine during the test. The bolt holes didn't line up.

I've been picking up parts for about a year and a half now. Learned quite a bit in that time, and also think the turbo may be a bit too big now. I'm going to try it anyway though.

Oh, I think its ok! Turbo will come then around 3500rpm - but very hard then. You can run a lot of boost with this killer!

I'm also learning at this time. Thats the reason why i'm still here. I'm drivin' honda since a half year - and before i've never heard parts like: egt, ecu, wideband .... i was before a opel driver (german cars you know). And now i'm learning some bout tuning for honda and build at the moment 2 of them. Del Sol D16Z6 w/ GReddy Turbokit and the Civic B18 Turbo. Honda is a lot of fun!

And i'm thinkin when your car is done - you will have a lot of fun with that!

Using a perfectly good standard harness and a couple chopped up harnesses from work, here's my version of a OBD0 to OBD1/DPFI to MPFI/VTEC conversion harness. (still need to recover it)

These little bastards are quite roomy when you get some of the extra crap out of them.

As long as it gives good boost below 8000 rpms i'll be happy.

Update: There's alot more stuff that needed to be done than I thought. Still more to do before it can be driven, but I got it started up yesterday. Sounds and revs alot better than it did with the dpfi on it.

To show some progress:

Drove it saturday, tuned to 11psi. It stomps pretty good, more boost as soon as it gets a little cooler out.

With all the little things that had to be fiddled with to get it on the road, it's earned a name change: It's now known as the "little bastard".

11psi @4300 but i'm not sure i got the boost controller set right. I think it may be letting the wastegate start to open a little early.
