Default How to change a turbo compressor wheel? rebalance?

I have a 16g dsm turbo with a bent up comp wheel, so basicly a ruined 14b. Can I just buy a new 16g wheel and bolt it on? will it be balanced if i do it like that? I can't seem to find much info about this. I would be able to make a T handle wrench to prevent bending anything so all I need to know now is if it will work.

No, you can't just bolt a new wheel on. As soon as you loosen the compressor nut, it will be out of balance. Odds are it needs a rebuild too. I would recommend getting it done right and having it rebuilt/balanced.

I guess if it needs to spin at 50,000 rpm it has to be balanced. A rebuild would be nice but if i could afford that I would just buy a newer, better turbo. any other thoughts?
