Default Hooking up my egt gauge

Well I finally got around to hooking it up but when I hooked all the wires the needle stayed lower the 16 and just stayed there it never moved. My question is, on the back of the gauge there are two wire postive, negative for the backlight, and there are the two places for the wire running from the probe and there are two other wires red and black. Do these need to be hooked up they show no signs of ever being used so I'm not sure. Btw this a autometer gauge

you need to hook it to power and then to the probe. no power=no workie.

red wires usually stand for power and black stands for ground but might want to check that out
