hondata USB
i have a new laptop that is a amd 64bit and i just got my car out and well my laptop does not have a serial port no big deal i will just go buy a serial to usb port well it when hooked up to my data logger i can only see my tech the other gauges are just maxed out and do not move at all. anyone have a idea.
no everything is designed to be serial+ usbat the same time,, for example there are some mice that you can't plug them with a usb to serial adaptor, it's just not designed to do so. I dont know about hondata, but it might be the problem.
yeah all it reads it the tech it and i know it is spose to run on com port 4 so i guess i will have to check with my hondata dealer and find out. i just just wondering if anyone else has experneced this.
yeah i don't think the port is the problem i just don't think the hondata will talk to the usb maybe it is the belkin usb/serial port one that i have. it is spose to be for cell phones and pda's there might not be enought band width
I am using the same belkin for my hondata setup and it reads just fine.. However I had to uninstall the Hondata software and call them up then reinstalled it... It should work for you..

yeah well this laptop was only 1300 bucks and with the amd 64bit and a ATI 9600 and wide screen one could not ask for more. but that was its only down fall there are more and more laptops that do not come with them. but oh well i know it can be done i just might have to buy another one that runs faster.
