Default Hondata

I just got done outside and hooked the PC up to Hondata, What a CLUSTERF**K! I bought the serial to USB But there is no connectivity between my PC, and the hondata. I've read similar issues on Hondatas website. It seems everyone has this problem. I literally just sat down 5 minutes ago. I am pretty frustrated. I installed the software for the adapter, the hondata software is installed but there is a catch. Hondata says you HAVE to disable the FIFO in order for it to work; funny thing is, I can't find where to disable the FIFO!!!!! I even read through the online installation manual. It shows exactly how to do it but there is no FIFO, and that makes sense to me as the reason there is no connectivity.

Has anyone had similar issues? I need some advice so I can check my CEL BTW, I am a member on the hondata forum but could not find any threads that talk about the FIFO. Could this be my hangup? I am looking for some tips please!!!

TIA

I am not using (keyspan) I bought a different brand from a big electronics store that is local to me. All I know about my laptop is that it runs Windows XP and has a 100 gb hardrive, with an athlon proccessor. The laptop says Mayhem on it

Your issue is prob. your serial to usb. People have horrendous issues not using a keyspan. I'm guessing your laptop does not have a serial port? Also check to make sure you've got enough laptop to run the hondata software also.

FIFO is FIrst in first out, its a buffer used by windows. You disable FIFO in the device manager in windows xp under usb serial adapter

It has to be Keyspan? That is the brand right? I have a port which I thought was serial but it is a 15 pin whereas the Hondata is 9 pin I am very new to computers and don't know much about them, but I installed Hondata's software properly and the serial to usb software correctly as well. When the laptop is hooked up to my car the Datalogger program says 'connecting' but won't say connected

I couldn't find FIFO if my life depended on it. I was in the device manager, I think you go to properties then advanced but nowhere did it say FIFO
