Default hondata question with base maps. . . please help

ok well im doing the turbo install next week .
01 ITR stock internals
rc550's, walbro intank 255lph, fpr, fuel rail igntion mods. yadda yadda yadda. . . . oh yea i have a hondata 4b
now my issue is what base map tp chose to get my car drivable for a few weeks safely until i can get on the dyno . if needed i can get access to a wideband for street tuning and checking things out
But i wanna start off with a good platform that will be safe and wont make too many headaches to tune down the line ?
any suggestions?
I contacted SGT and he said his map wont work good becuase it ws on a 9:1 c5 instead of my stock 10.6:1?
what to do , i have my chip set now for b18c1 with 10psi with 440's, can i just mod that to work for me too on street tuning ?

Please help. . . . . thanks

thats a toss up. no one here can say yea itl be safe or not. GO TO DYNO ASAP, i wouldnt go wot with a basemap... a c5 is too expensive an engine to blow, and youve spent so much money on parts so far go the extra mile.

the problem is , there arent any honadta tuners here . so i will prob weither drive to NY which is like 3hrs away to RPM or VA which is like 4-5 hrs away to SGT to tune , i might be able to get access to a wideband from the guy i got my honata from to do some street tunign to get it prety good for a little to boost i guess and for the drive up .
im sooo broke from getting all these parts and now im ready to put em in , but dont got 500-1k or whatever to sit on the dyno .
ugghhhh

if you are a registered 4B owner you should have all the updated maps, there are a few 550cc maps in there. Just choose one similar to your setup.

That will get you around as long as you understand not to take the motor into high load until you have your a/f and timing tuned.

the 4b owenrs dont get updated maps. just the old ones.
the closest i can find is a b16 boosted , i forget the injector size though
and then b18c1 with 440's which i have now and
b18c5 with 720's but 9:1 comp
so the timing maps will be fucked up on all of them i think .
trailoring to Va or Ny will cost me a fortune . i dont even have moeny to get on the dyno let alone tow it there.
SGT is making me a base map for my car and my mods to run the car, but i cant boost it at all until its tuned , so it wil lbe hard

If you need some help with the hondata PM me. I live within an hour or so of you. I have tuned a few cars successfully with my Hondata stage 4b unit. I always street wideband my engines before doing anything on a dyno. As far as your timing curves goes, there is a map that you should have that was for a h22a turbo. The timing is majorly retarded, so you will have nothing to worry about using it. You can cut and paste both low and high cam timing maps to your exsisting maps that you desire. This will get the car running, then after street widebanding it you can go to the dyno and fix the timing. This is always how i tune my cars.

I would not use a base map for any amount of time. Try to have your car tuned as soon as possible afterwards, and stick to street tuning as that will make up 90% of you tune.

I would recommend contacting GruvyTune.... he is an excellent tuner and great guy. He lives near Binghamton, NY.

Thanks Leon:

I have been finding more and more that it is best to do your idle tuning first then get it on the dyno and followup at the END with wideband street tuning rather than fine tune on the dyno. If you want to make sure your fueling is good for load on the street that is the only reliable way to do it. i consistently get very varied results (suprisingly leaner) on the street than on the dyno which can be a disaster for forced induction if you start detonating.

I'd be happy to talk to you about coming up this way to wideband dyno/street tune!
