homade boost controller 10psi?
i put a homemade boost controller on my turbo yesterday and tried to set it. it's hard dialing in 8pi, thats what i was told would be safe on my d series w/ stock internals. it's around 9 and dont hear any pinging from detonation. has anyone uesd a homemade boost controller? how bout w/ the greddy kit on a 6th gen?
What does your car boost to WITHOUT the boost controller? Your boost controller only allows you to increase boost, you can't decrease it from wherever the wastegate normally opens. Even if your wastegate is hypothetically set at 8 psi it may take an extra bit of pressure to open the check valve in a manual boost controller and make it so you can't set it lower than 9 psi. You probably need a lighter spring in your wastegate.
no it's all good, the wastegate is set @5.5 psi and all i wanted to know is if i was safe running @ 9 with the greddy kit. thats all. i made the controller out of a male and female nipples, spring and ball bearing from the hardware store. some people i hear use check valves from the fish store
I have a GReddy in my 98 EX, I also had a manual controller. Biggest POS I ever used in my life. Damn thing would always drop the boost whenever it wanted too, most inaccurate peice of garbage I ever used. Thank god I went with an EBC!
i made the controller out of a male and female nipples...
Hehe.. Maybe you need to change the strength on the spring to make it go lower than 9psi.
