Default HKS BOV Problem

I have had the HKS Super Sequential BOV for about two years now. Recently, the car was taken apart for two months and the BOV was sitting on the workbench, still attached to its pipe and flange, not getting hit, dropped, or messed with. The car is back together, everything is connected as before, everything is working except for the BOV. The small gate opens, I can hear that, but if I boost more than 2psi, I hear the small gate open as normal, the large gate never opens, and then I hear compressor surge.

I tried multiple vacuum sources, have connected it directly to the intake manifold, the check valve is installed per the instructions (tried removing it, no help), and I have tried adjusting the screw in the back all the way in and out, with no success. The BOV is connected tightly to the pipe, the seal is good, nothing seems to be broken.

I'm at a loss, and I can't see how just having the BOV sit on a shelf for two months will render it inoperable. I have driven the car for a day now, and the BOV is not unsticking like I had hoped it would. I don't want to spend $200 on another one, so is there anything I can do, such as take it apart? I don't have the instruction manual for the BOV, so if there is one that shows the internal parts and how everything should be connected, I'd appreciate it if someone can post up a link. Otherwise, if anyone has any ideas, I'd love to hear them.

try manually pushing the valve back in to unstick it.. ( first taking the outer case off)

and have you tried using the adjusting screw?

Tried adjusting the screw in the back, didn't seem to help no matter how much I adjusted it in or out.

Just tried this too... no luck, still same problem.

Any more ideas?

Ok, I now have a brand new HKS SSQ BOV on the car now, and it's acting strange. If I press in the throttle sharply from idle, the BOV pushes out air, is that normal?

When I drive in boost, I hear a couple of flutters and then the BOV opens, I have tried adjusting the screw in the back all over the place and can't seem to make it any better or worse. The old one didn't do that before it stopped working altogether, so something is wrong here.

The vacuum source is the brake booster line, same as it has always been on this car, and it gets a good vacuum at idle according to the vacuum gauge I hooked to the line.

I'm out of ideas and getting frustrated. Help!

It is installed, and pointing the proper direction, according to the manual.

Ok, trying more things, the BOV is now the only thing teed to the brake booster line (yes, before the check valve that is in the brake booster line), and still having the same problem. All of the vacuum lines hold vacuum and pressure just fine, I tested them with my mityvac. I never hear the high pitched whistle blow off, only the small flutter and then compressor surge.

I have put the adjustment screw everywhere from barely screwed in to screwed in all the way, and the exact same results. Vacuum gauge placed on the line proves that I have a good vac/boost signal going to the blow off valve, the o-ring sealing the BOV to the flange is new, and the blow off valve is mounted securely to the pipe. All the piping is tight, no leaks, car boosts just fine, drives just fine, everything works except the blow off valve.

I find it hard to believe that a brand new HKS BOV would not work, so it's got to be something about the adjustment or the car. Does anyone have any ideas?
