there's no need for a honda ignitor when using an msd ignition
Someone has a wiring diagram, search for it, and give it a try.
Hey you never knew. It just might fix your problem.

I would try another distributor. On some cars I have helped out on the pickup sensors would get noise and cause the car to misfire at high RPMs.

you should be able to get well over 16deg of advance if you distributor is set in the full advance position. It should be up in the 20's or so I believe. If you were off a tooth you would know because your ignition timing would be off by about 16-18deg. Make sure you jumper the service connector before you time it. I say its an ignition problem. You may want to check your ignition maps for being TOO far retarded. If you have an EGT guage that would help. If you A/F is fine and you EGT's climb fast you probably have too much or too little advance. My EGT's shot up while i was tuning and It was because I had too much retard - i think they call it afterburn or something. I reset my base ignition to 16deg. and changed my deg/retard per pound of boost to around 0.6 from 0.9 and it ran a hell of a lot better meaning the A/f's were good and the EGT's moved much slower. The best way to try it is add more retard and if it gets worse that's probably your problem. Then I would add more advance than you have now and see if it improves. If you don't have an EGT gauge pull you plugs very often to check for detonation (specs of aluminum). Good luck!
