Default High miles engine + Turbo

Have a question about my honda del sol si. It has a D16z6 with 140,000 miles on it. Runs like a champ all the way to redline still but i was going to put a turbo on it this weekend. It's a greddy turbo with only 5.5 psi of boost. I don't leak any oil or anything right now and it idles perfect. Just wanting some insight on whether or not to put the turbo on at all. I'm afraid i might ruin my piston rings with the turbo and end up messing up the engine all together. I'll have an apexi vfac hack on it also with 450cc dsm injectors. Please reply.....

if thats the case.. don't boost your motor, although they're cheap to replace, but if you can't spend money on that.. don't mess with it.. you gotta be prepaired to shell out $$$ for rebuild/repairs and maintanance.

i've searched this forum for 45 min looking for the compression numbers for a D16Z6. i know it's like 9.1 to 1 or something but whats with people posting numbers like 220 or 250 and stuff for their B series motors. I know i'm stupid but i'm sure other people out there are wondering the same thing. Just to let you know, i did try and find these numbers out for myself but now my eyes are hurting from searching

i have zero idea what you are asking in your other post. I'm not sure if the d-series motor is that low of a compression or not. I would think a little bit higher And yes, people do post numbers for b-series motors b/c they are pretty popular to boost.

If it has 180 PSI or more compression, then go for it

Even if you don't have lots of money that motor is really cheap and easy to swap in and out. I just boosted a d16z6 w/ 130k and have put over 3 thousand on it with no problems. I run 8.5psi in 4th and 5th every day over and over. No problems except the clutch slipping in 5th every now and again.

I am useing a t25 so my 8.5psi might be like your 5 or something, i don't know how they compare as far as flow goes.

USDM ED9 on here ran 9psi on his d16a6 which had 220k + for over a year ( he also has crazy tuning skills ) so i say go for it!

thanks a lot guys. I have new confidence in the motor. I am gonna swap in 86-87 integra rods and bearings though b/c they hold up to 250hp compared to D16Z6's 200hp
