High mileage d16y8 head on turbo build
I have sourced a d16y8 head I can get for fairly cheap, but it has around 220 xxx kilometres on it. My question is, will the stock valvetrain handle 300hp daily? Or will a rebuild be necessary? I was thinking of replacing the valve springs and retainers with Brian crower single springs and titanium retainers anyways. But what about valve guides and seals? Along with the valves themselves?

Maybe you should ask if your BOTTOM end can handle that. You didn't say if it was stock of not because if it is then don't even worry about the head at this point. A rod will break long before anything in the head.

The bottom end only has 110 xxx kilometres and I am going to completely rebuild it with vitaras, custom length rods, new oem bearings and so on. I am just concerned about what I should do with the head to bring it up to snuff.

I know usually a stock valvetrain would be able to withstand this, but I'm wondering if the mileage will be a big concern.

DO IT ON ALL FOURS

It will all be fine as long as it is all still in spec. I highly doubt this is the case though. Either way, as long as the stock rev limit is used and boost pressures aren't insane, you shouldn't have a problem with a stock top end.
