Default Help with VAFC!

Just got my VAFC installed in my '99 GSR and it's running hella rough at factory default settings.

Mods
-Drag 3 turbo kit (T3/T04E 57 trim 5lbs)
-MSD
-BBK 255 fuel pump
-Mugen re-map ecu
-No boost controler
-(STOCK INTERNALS)

It's gonna be a while till i dyno tune my car so please share VAFC settings if you have similar mods.

By factory default setting do you mean 0% fuel trim through the whole RPM band?

I'm not sure if the VAFC default settings is at 0% fuel trim. There's an initialize set up you do before starting the car but it doesn't say to adjust any aspects of fuel.

Still looking for VAFC settings, please share them if u have similar set up.

OK the first thing that scares me is the Mugen re-mapped ECU. Is it for all motor because if it is then the timing if going to be advanced pretty far. The next thing are you using bigger injectors you will need them to make the hack work and it sounds like that’s what you’re trying to do.

About the car running rough I would go back and make sure your settings are all the way they tell you to set before you even start the car. Then after you get that fixed find some 450 DSM injectors for like $50 and put them in. Then do a search there is about a million post with setting you can find on here, But let me say this even if you have the same set up as a friend I mean every thing is the same boost, motor, turbo kit, and stuff like that. The cars will still have different setting to make them run safe so be careful and have fun boosting after ever thing is fix that is.

If you initialized it, then your car and sensor type settings are probably reset too. You need to set it to 6 in, 6 out with the arrow pointing up to the right sensor type, 4cyl car type.

Why don't you just set everything to zero and see how your car runs to make sure it's not the AFC?

Okay, this sounds very bad. you need to screw around with the fuel trim and display settings of your V-AFC w/ the screen off. Re-read the directions, and memorize the menu flow chart. The V-AFC is very powerful, after all it can let you run 450s and boost on a Honda, but it can also FUBAR your bottom end.

I too have a chipped ecu. My settings are around -23% to -21% lo/hi. I really don't know why my readings are so hi compare to others around -36% across but it could be due to the chipped ecu. Let me know if yours idle around my setting or is mine the wierd ball.

Hey thnx for all the feeback. Yah so even with the AFC settings all at 0% and no adjustments my car is still running like crap. I'm thinking of disconnecting the plug that runs from the ecu to the AFC unit to run without it. That way i can determine if the problems with the AFC or a mechanical problem.......Do you think it's safe for me to just unplug and then drive like that??? Please reply, thnx.

no. that will make your car run even worse and cause more problems because by doing so you will have completely disconnected the MAP sensor from the ECU. if you installed everything yourself and know what to do, you could try uninstalling the VAFC harness at the ECU.
