Default help with turbo choice?!?

Ok, i have saved my pennies and dimes and I'm ready to go turbo. It will be my hatchback with a b18c1. I plan to lower the compression to 9:1 with JE/eagle combo. I have emails out to race-engineering to see about thier darton prices, if its too high, i'll bore the block out to 81.5mm. If I can get it sleeved, then I'll go to 84mm. I know people will say golden eagle, but i don't have that much extra and that's off point.

I'm having a custom manifold made for me which will be tubular and have a design around what full races is, but not a replica. My guy makes manifolds for MR2s and has never seen full-race's design, but drew me something similar for mine. So I plan to run a 40mm tial wastegate and get a FMIC from camp1320. Hopefully a tial BOV, and I have a skunk2 IM. I'll also be getting a hondata with 550cc injectors and a 255lhp walbro.

My current problem is which turbo to get. My goal is a mere mid 300 whp, so that should be around 15psi and maybe on race day i'll run 20psi. I was considering a t3/t4oe 57 trim with .63ar. But i need recommendations on what turbo I should get. I've heard great things about precision turbos, but I haven't found info on all thier details. Please help me out on these details on what ar to run and what trim to run. Also would it be better to get a t3/60-1 turbo?

I would like it to spool up around 3500rmps or so.

Thanks

in all honesty to reach your goal of mid 300whp you wouldnt need anything more than the t3/to4e .63 a/r 57trim that you have already selected. this will give you a quick spool and still support an efficient 400-425 whp under the right circumstances.

Cheap Turbo/Kenny is correct!

The .63 A/R Stage III & .60 A/R 57 Trim T3/T04E can easily support 300 whp and still give you some headroom to make more power later on down the road.

What about an sc50, 50 trim t3/t4 with a .48 exhaust. Fast spool and supports 400 hp.

.48 A/R turbine housing will not support 400whp! That thing will die out at ~300-325 whp.

Thats correct Our .48 housing has been optimized internally from the stock Ford .48 housing most other manufactures use . So you will find that our .48 housing will push 500bhp
Oh btw we have a link to the new SC61 compressor map if you care to see it
go to our Sport Compact page, scroll down to the SC61 and click on the
map link next to the SC61 part number.

is that a 7 bladed compressor wheel on that sc61?

what do we need to do to get the equivalent of a 6 blade t61 compressor wheel in a t3 frame

Precision Turbo makes the Turbos for Sound Performance in Chicago (Supra Tuner) reknowned for their fast spool and big power. I'd believe anything harry says.

well ****, now i have more options. Guys, i'm pretty clueless here, I'll check out the compression maps on precisions website. Anyone know where I can check out some standard t3/t4oe turbo maps? I've been doing the calculations to get my numbers, so i can attempt to find the best turbo.

I really would just like to get a turbo that spools somewhere in the late 3k range. My goal is in the 300s, but I've listed my intended equipment buy above, so I have no problem getting more hp. But mid 300s is my minimum goal. The block most likely won't be sleeved so hopefully with the hondata I can run 15-20psi safely, but the better the flow of the turbo, the less boost I have to run to get the power.

What's the best bang for the buck?

t3/t04e .57 trim .63 ar should work well. I would advise you to get the JG edelbrock manifold for FI over the skunk 2. I switched and like it alot better!
