Help: Pinging like crazy. Low RPMs
My car has been pinging like a b!tch ever since i put the b16a2 block in it. I just did a compression test, and the results came out good. The block only has 20,000 miles on it, and everything else on the car has 40k on it.
My current setup:
B16a2 block
ITR everything else
Drag III turbo kit
It starts pinging at around 3-4k rpm when i give it 1/2 throttle gas. It sounds like pebbles hitting my windsheild. I am still running the stock injectors, and an fmu. Also, today after i did the compression test, and put everything back together, it started pinging at idle..( After i revved the engine a little bit ) I checked the sparkplugs for any signs of detonation, and nothing was there. I am open for suggestions! Thanks

injectors..time to upgrade that and get rid of the fmu and do afc hack instead.
I imed you back earlier but I was away from replying it. I'll take a look tomorrow and we'll figure out what the problem is..
Jeff-

Jeff-
I've never in my life heard real detonation or preignition (pinging) at idle. Its like the guy who called at work the other day claiming to have over 260 Hz on the input line to a 3 phase machine that draws over 60 amps. Sure it COULD happen, but its not happening. Their is a better explanation...............

Yeah, Dave, its b16..i wasn't able to find a gsr that quick. Found a b16 for cheap, and hopped on it. Anyway, you guys think its the injectors?? I'll upgrade them and see what happens. BTW, call me tomorrow or leave me an IM jeff. So we can figure this **** out. Thanks
Hmm, i don't think its detonation anymore...This morning, when i started my car, i revved it up to see if the noise was still there, and it was...could it be the valves?? or something wrong in the head? It sounds like pebbles hitting my windshield. After the car is warm, it doesn't do it when i revv..I don't know..this is weird, and its annoying..ehh, if anyone has any suggestions, hit me up
timing. Could be your cam timing is off, ie. timing belt is off a tooth. Do you have adjustable gears?
When the motor is warmed up the timing map changes and this could explain why the sound goes away.

these are the following problems
-valve dropped (ping ping ping ping ping)
-blown headgasket most likely caused by stretched head stud
solution....rebuild the head, rebuild the itr buttom end. he got a b16a long block from me and put it on for the time being..

it could be the headgasket because my motor used to make that sound b4 it was warmed up remember paul b4 i changed the headgasket? but i dunno my compression was all fuqked up b4 i changed the headgasket. let me know whats up wit the car paul *hugs paul feels his pain*

Yup, but we wont' find out for sure what the problem was untill we rip apart the head. Anyway, thanks for the b16 long block for the time being Jeff.
The turbo should *somewhat* make up for the slow *** b16 lol. *cries* Anyway, hit me up cliff, and i'll fill you in on the details.
Cheers to the siR.

Check your valves.
Have you adjusted them recently? They do need to be adjusted every 15k miles.
It sounds like it's just valve tick to me (meaning valves need adjusted).
Every honda that i've owned has ticked louder when I first started it up, and as soon as it warmed up it got significantly quieter
