Default Help...new to boost

Ok, i am new to the turbo world, and I am going to be boosted in about 3 weeks.

This is what I am going with:

-B16 block (Darton Sleeves, Eagle Crank, Crower Rods, and JE 9:1 pistons)
-Turbonetics t3/t4 57trim
-basically a stock b16 head except for a 5 angle valve job

A few questions...

1. What size injectors should i run with this setup?
2. How many psi can my motor hold with the right sized injectors?

Thanks in advance for your help.

Don't waste your money with a SAFC or VAFC. I made the mistake of getting a VAFC when I first went turbo and my car hated that thing. I would go with Hondata and start with no less than 550cc injectors. At 1 Bar you should at least be able to produce 300whp (this is under estimating) Depending on how much boost you run 350whp should be attainable. There are a lot of variables that come into play with guessimating hp on turbo setups.

Tuning is part of the game. This is not an inexpensive hobby.

What is your power goal?

FPR and inline fuel pump...wanna buy 'em? I got 'em.

Actually there is no good answer to this question. If you want your car to run properly and reliably, it should be dyno-tuned so you know what it's actually doing. There are no really good, versatile engine management systems that I can think of that shouldn't be dyno-tuned or at least street-tuned with a wideband....at least not at the expense of performance and reliability.

Lots of people may chime in with the hack as a suggestion, but it has it's drawbacks too. If you want to make power, you'll be going to a dyno eventually.

but that's just my .05% of $40.00

gets ome DSM 450 cc injectors they will be good for now. and if u are ganna be obd1 then learn to use Urberdata. almost the same as hondata, but its free, but u still need chips and a burner for the chips. im ganna be running 12-18psi daily on a d16z6 with pistons and rods so your b16 with sleeves and everyting could see 20+daily if desired. go with hondata, URBERDATA, or AEM EMS.

also if no local dyno is around. go with urberdata and get a WB o2 setup for about 350. your still cheaper than hondata and u can tune it with your WBo2.

just my 2 cents.

first of all, hondata IS the ****. second of all, i'd like to see identical setups, one with an FMU, and one with hondata, both dyno, and see who pulls better numbers, and which one runs better overall. hondata is well worth the money in MY opinion. FMU's do a great job for what they are, but when it comes down to it more power can be brought out of an engine equipped with hondata as opposed to one w/ an FMU. Expensive? yes... but it pays off.

I would be afraid to run any boost on stock injectors. Especially when dsm 450's can be had for as little as $50. With a walboro 255, 1:1 Regulator, and a VAFC you will have a nice simple setup thats easy to tune.

U have already spent $$$ on your built block so don't skimp on the injectors. If your planning to run high boost 20+psi then I'd wouldn't go any lower than 720cc, save you having to buy them twice....

720cc injectors, and i think those sleeves are guranteed to 50 psi. I wouldnt reccomend that, but sounds like you have a good start. What is the stroke on the eagle crank? If its a long stroke, then you shouldnt run that high of boost obviously to the raised compression.

You wont be able to tune 720's with a vafc (only +/- 50% adjustability). 550's are probably the biggest injectors I would go with using a VAFC to tune if you want the car to run good off-boost and be able to lean it out on race gas because they are 40% larger than stock. Of course with 550's, you are limiting yourself to probably under 17 psi of boost.
