Default HELP! need your KNOWLEDGE on boosting a JDM ITR engine

I am planning to boost my jdm '96 itr engine but i am worried about blowing it up. Is it safe to boost 8-10psi on my stock itr engine? i am planning to change the headgasket to a low compression one so it is safer. give me some feedback on what i should do! help!

i personally would sell the itr and buy a gsr and boost it and take the extra money and put it towards building the gsr or other parts

I would have to disagree with you. Itr blocks are better balanced and have more potential under boost then a GSR block. It will respond better to boost because of the compression. But tuning will be key here. I would no go beyond 8 psi on an ITR block.

SEARCH. There is tons of info

ya the itr does pretty good boosted. just dont go beating on it before you get a good tune. 8 to 10 psi should be fine especially if you get a head gasket for it, that motor was hand built good luck

forget a head gasket boost it at 10psi with a good tune and call it a day! just have a 2nd car to drive when something breaks. not saying your motor but from my experience a beater is very nice and can be luxurious when your fun car is down

ITR motors respond to boost very well if tuned right, a guy in town here is making 400+hp on a stock itr

i recommend boosting no more than 5psi but yea, ive seen some Rs boostin around 10 but i would hate to risk it if the motor aint built. type R block dont come cheap compared to LS blocks. as long as you do it right with a nice tune, you'll be ok

10 PSI is too much. Keep it at 8 psi, MAX.
