you need the sleeve that you "splice" into the radiator hose. Yes you will use the probe that came w/ the gauge, if not it will not work.

How do you know it is accurate? Have you compared voltage/temp curves of both sensors?

nope! but I had both of the sensors hooked up to 2 different autometer gauge, to test it and they both read the same, but I damage the sensor when I pulled the motor ,and I decided to splice it inline with my stock sensor, at full operating temp on a long drive it reads 210*F and 180*F at normal.

Whats the point of having the gauge when you're wired up to the stock sensor? it'll read the same on your instrument cluster.

Also he's running a mechanical gauge, so it comes w/ its own probe.

does your instrument cluster read out in digits? no! I do it because I want to see the exact temperature I am running at normal/hot/and overheating, your intrument cluster dont tell you anything until the car is boiling over.

Does anyone make a part that you put in a heater hose or radiator hose that my sensor can thread into?

Thanks

get a brass "t" with 3/8" barbed fittings and splice it in the throttle body coolant line, just make sure you ground it right though....

i finally got around to putting this in. I went with what he said and:

<TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote, originally posted by InfamousDC2FI &raquo;</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote">get a brass "t" with 3/8" barbed fittings and splice it in the throttle body coolant line, just make sure you ground it right though....</TD></TR></TABLE>

my problem is that it doesnt work. what do you mean by "ground it right though..." I have a wire going from the the probe (wire is in between the 2 nuts at the end of the probe) to the gauage. I have a wire from the gauge grounded and I have a wire from the gauge going to its 12v ign. and it dosent work.

damn I feel dumb that i cant get a gauge to work!!!!!!!!

Thanks

dude if its an auto meter gauge then the sender for the gauge will thread right into the stock location just ditch the factory one and install the sender in its new home

i didnt realize that. Since it is already mounted and in place it will prob stay there, but I still have to figure out why it dosent work.

Thanks though for that info!!

ign is to 12v(key) g to ground and s to the probe, so those are all correct

My Autometer sender won't thread into the stock sensor's hole, the thread look the same but it won't go. I have a LS motor, so maybe its different? Got a pic so I can make sure I'm trying the right hole?

Bump for some answers!

i tapped the sensor into my tb line and my autometer reads at 171-180 but on my hondalogger the stock sensor was reading 193-195. which is right? is the coolant coming from the tb to the radiator? same temp as the water coming from the head.
