Autometer Temp Gauge, Quick ???
I am looking at getting an Autometer water temp gauge. The electric gauge has a range from 100-250F. Is this enought range? Or the mechanical has a range of 140-280, or 60-210. But i want to stay away from the mechanical.
What is the normal temp for our cars?
Thanks

the electric is fine. I run one myself. 172, thermo opens, 200 deg. fan turns on, anything above 210 is warm-hot....
most car operating temp runs between
170-200 so you should be good on the electric
not only that it depends where you are placing the
sensor...

Very true. If you use the one supplied with the Autometer Gauge, you should be fine.

That was my next question, what is the best place to hook it up?? I thought i could splice it into the factory temp sender (on the thermostat housing), is this correct, or is there a better place to hook it up?
hook it up to the aluminum hose connector on the front side of your block where the "exit" of the coolant is for your head. That way if you blow a head gasket youll see a huge temp spike on your temp guage and know it before your car actually overheats. FYI the stock temp guage is hooked up to the "IN" of your head.
