Default help me pick a sohc turbo setup

ok im debating on which setup i want to go with, i know i want to make my own kit custom and whatnot but im debating on how to go about it.

A: civic std/cx manfold ported a bit with a 14b from eclipse, have it ported and clipped. then do custom pipes, a nice front mount
or
B: aftermarket manifold and some kind of nicer turbo than a 14b , then again custom pipes/ intercooler

the engine is gonna be a d16a6 crx/civic si motor, eagle rods, endyn pistons, acl bearings, blockguard, turbo cam, P&P head, and hondata with dsm 450's
now i want to run 15+ psi of boost

any opinions? im not rich so no crazy ideas, LOL

If youre gonna run 14-15 PSI I suggest you get a bigger slug.

Personally, cause I'm cheap I would still use a HX Mani and massage that bitch a lil but then again you could just spend an extra 250$ and get the real deal.
The D16 will spool a slightly bigger turbo no prob just do the right thing on all your piping. Charge pipes and exhaust pipes that is. 2.5 will work for nicely.

Keep us updated!!!

If you clip the turbo you ruin the efficiency and increase the chance of detonation. D's don't take too well to detonation. Step up to a 18g or a T22 then

I don't know that 450cc will be big enough for 15+ psi.

14-15 PSI a 14b is plenty big. Honestly though you should base your "want's" on desired horspower ratings or timeslips.

Anyway, 2.5" charge pipes are a little too big and you may see extra lag. Either go 2" or 2" before the IC and 2.25" after the IC.

If you get a Revhard manifold and T3/4 turbo you're looking at close to $1000 for brand new parts. If you rebuild a turbo you're usually looking at around $250.

Which hondata are you going to be using. I got the Full Race Manifold and a T3/60-1 Garrett turbo From Cheapturbo.com Going for 500hp

I have a turbonetics t3/t4 on my sohc del sol and its spools slow as crap. Starts around 3000 and doesnt hit 8 psi till like 5200. By that time its almost time to shift. I would go with a nice medium sized T3. Im bout to sell my t3/t4 cause im going to a t3. i learned the hard way

How big of a difference would there be by using a t3/t4b. I'm assuming you are using a "e"???
I'm still confused on what size turbo i should go with as well for my d. i was going to go with the t3/t4e, but maybe not now..

I have the smaller one, which is the B i think. Its not ball bearing or anything, but still i thought it should spool quicker.....

15+ psi on stock sleeves? hmmm.. i would be careful.

i am runnning the same setup as you but using LS rods and srp pistons. (in a Z6) i am going to be running my greddy kit (tdo4 15g) I wont hit your desired psi, but i only am looking at running 12psi or so max. with 450 dsm's

let me know how your block holds up to 15+psi,maybe i'll have to get a bigger turbo!
