Default Running a 14b on a sohc ?

I have available a 14b turbo setup for a D16 (vtec). I have a larger turbo already (t3) that needs a rebuild, but can get the 14b and a manifold cheep... so I am contemplating going with it (despite the fact it looks like a tater-tot).

Anyone running a 14b setup ? Even on a DOHC ?

I was also informed that the 16G will fit the same flange if I keep the same hot housing. Is that correct ?
If that is so, would the DP be in the same position ? (or can I just get the turbo rebuilt cheep ?)

That won't be an option immediately as the turbo is relatively new.

Well, I'm rambling... what I REALLY want to know is how good is this turbo for daily driving ? I know it reaches peak boost really quick, so is it a dead horse up top ?

The 14b is a little bigger then the T25 which were in the newer eclipses. I do not see any problem with it. Running it as a daily driver should be fine, just plan around it: ie get 3" piping for exhaust to help it spool up, etc.

the 14b is a sweet turbo for a "junkyard" buildup..it will work nicely on a sohc! they work well(wil give you good power too) and youcan get them cheap

What's the upper limit on them ? I am hoping for around 10psi as a high #. But at what point does that turbo run out of steam ? ABout 12-13 psi ?

Damn ! 20 something psi ??? Intake temperatures must be sky high in the 20's with that baby turbo ! Sooo... a ZC with a 14b ? interesting. I am going to be running it in a hatch... so that should help.

Glad to hear the positive feedback !

there is also a local focus that just ran 13.5@103 (on small slicks) witha 14b...forget whats hes boosting... it is a really decent stock turbo!!!
no doubt it will do well!
now I dont know how well it would do above 7000 rpm.... all cars in question rev to that or lower. so it depends on your motor.for sohc though it should do a pretty nice job!
and even a dohc(but it depends) i have heard of some guys running them on their si's but am unsure of the results.
