Default Help me decide!!!!

I could either try to get on on one of Bens grounp buys on the DRAG kit which I could have on and boosting in a weekend.

OR, I could buy the MaxRev "kit", Hondata 2b, RC 440s, Theremal 3", and ClutchNet stage 2.

I think I would prefer the MaxRev rought, but I don't know anyone with Hondata 4b to tune it for me, and the closest Hondata dealer is C-Speed racing in Washington over 400 miles away.

The MaxRev setup won't cost all the much more. If I Go with the Drag kit, I will buy 310's and a AFC. Im looking at maybe $200-$300 more, plus dyno time which I have no clue on.

Anothere delima is I could have Hondata sent to my house and I could instal it, buy would it be reliable enough to make the 400 mile drive to C-Speed?

I am also faced with this dilemma of having to drive pretty far to get my hondata tuned. Couldn't we just wire our wastegates open for the drive? It'd be loud but would there be a reason why this wouldn't work?

Oh yeah, even with base maps it is going to run better than you could tune it ever with a V-AFC. No worries.

Yeah, would that work? Wire the WG completley open, shoudn't build any boost then should it? Then I could drive the 400 miles witht he stock fuel system, then have c-speed racing install and tune my setup. Would it work?

I tell ya, having the turbo on the car and not boosting is not real good. The turbo will have no pressure to regulate the shaft speed. That means the shaft could spin tooo freely and cause damage. I would not do it.

hmmmmmm.......

I think I'll try to go with the MaxRev kit. I want the reliability of Hondata. Would 440's be to big for a stock motor? How much boost would be safe to run if tuned properly? 10 psi? What kind of power could I expect out of my stock b18b?

Does anyone know of any Dyno shops in Oregon? Anyone around have 4b and the knowledge to help me tune it when Im ready?

No, 440's are fine for a stock motor. If tuned properly, and on stock B18B internals, IMHO you could run over 10Psi. Maybe as high as 15Psi since your stock CR is 9.2:1 I believe. As far as power, I would guesstimate 260whp at 10Psi with the Hondata and a 3" exhaust. Give or take.

[drool]260 whp [/drool]

I don't think I would run much more, 15 psi seems a little much for a stock bottom end. This motor has to last me until I could rebuild it, it will probably be a while. After I buy my turbo I would like to buy a small 4x4 SUV for the winter, and while Im rebuilding my curent motor, so it will be atleast a year from now.

Also, with the stock map sensor, Hondata says you can only run 11 psi. I don't want to upgrade the map sensor till I build the motor.

go with the maxrev & hondata setup. it's the best way, as far as quality and reliability is concerned.

just tell whoever you're getting the hondata from your setup specs, and they can give you a good baseline map. so say b18b1, whatever turbo specs, injector sizes, other parts, how much boost, etc. and they'll formulate a map for you.

You are getting the concepts confused. This only occurs if you disconnect an intake pipe. Since the wastegate would be held open, there turbo would just not spin high enough to create positive pressure.
