Help me on choosing the right thing to do?????
Ok i just got a type-r engine but i got a brand new turbo kit in my garage. I want to use the kit but everyone knows that its not good to turbo a type-r because of its compression. So should i just lower the compression with some aftermarket pistions and turbo it OR should i just trade up the engine for a gsr and turbo that. What well be better for horse power and for all round goodness for the life of the engine.
a turbo ITR motor is bad ***.
BUT it requires GREAT tuning due to the high compression.
If you aren't planing to run hondata or EMS, don't boost the ITR.

You can definitely boost an ITR engine. There are about a million threads here addressing the high compression "problem". The thing you have to consider is the money you would make in trade for a GSR engine. Once they are both boosted there isn't going to be that great of a difference. Some people even recommend GSR cams over ITR cams for boosting. Apparently the smaller overlap of the GSR cams is better for FI. So just think of how you could spend the money you would make in trade. And always remember that SPEED COSTS MONEY.
boosted ITRS rock man .
comrpession is great , but get a great tuner and great management .
tsut me , itsd worth it if done right.
