What engine to TURBO???
what is the best engine for me to turbo if i have about 8 grand to put into the motor. I was thinking getting a gsr motor but then someone told me the compression ratio is bad and the head dosent breath as good as lets say a lsvtec does. So i would be putting in a full race turbo kit or a peakboost turbo kit. now i dont want my engine to blow up i want to get alot of power but safely. So overall if any of u guys could tell me what engine i should get and what to do to that engine to get it to support a turbo set up and put out some real GREAT numbers plz.
Thanks,

The stock GSR compression is fine for turbo as long as u have a good tune. Lower compression is preferred by many street cars just cuz there is more room for error but there are many stock GSR's are putting out good numbers and running just fine. As for the head not flowing as well as a LS/VTEC that is not true because an LS/VTEC is nuthing but an LS bottom end with a vtec head. So I dont see the logic behind that one. Ne ways both motors with hold about the same power level stock so really its just up to what u want.
do you have $8000 to spend on everything (turbo, tunning, motor)? the cheapest route would be to build an ls/vtec. just get an ls shortblock, rebuild it with forged pistons/ rods, get a block gaurd. then throw a head on with upgraded valve springs and you should be good to go for under $2000
Search the FI classifieds and buy a complete(built) longblock. The laskey's had a motor for sale not to long ago. That'll be your best option if you have that kind of cash to get a setup going. Good luck.
