Help With ARP Head Stud Torque Specs
Hey guys I just need some help sorting out the correct way to intall ARP studs in b16 or b18c applications. Me and my brother recently installed the studs in his B18c1 but the first time we turned on the engine white smoke started coming out of the exhaust. After rechecking all the lines and hoses we deducted it was the head gasket. We unbolted the head and found out some of the studs were loose on the block side. We made sure we followed the instructions that came with the studs and "hand tightened" (with a hex) the bolts to the block and torqued the head to 70 ft/lbs in 25 ft/lbs increments. We also used the moly lube everywhere the instructions specified to do so. Since we encountered this problem even after carefully following these instructions, he decided to tow the car to a local honda shop where they did the work for him.
I am now ready to install the studs on my b16 but was wondering the best way to torque and install these studs. I know some of you guys have done this dozens of times and I would really appreciate your advice. If its of any importance, I will be boosting 15-18 psi after the installation.

Double nut them and torque them 15-20 lbs into the block (I can't remember if I did 15 or 20), and then do the 2 step method for actually bolting the head on.
70 should be fine.
but do what bauleycivic said and torque them into the head 1st with about 15 ft/lbs
i you have new arp studs they should have 3.5mm hex, on top to torque them down with
im not sure if 3.5 is the right size but you can fiqure that out..
