Having an issue with my heatwrap..
So I have fiberglass from the heatwrap on my manifold and downpipe getting all over in my engine bay. Is there a way to keep it from falling apart and getting all over? The wrap has only been on the car for a year or around 1500 miles...

What brand wrap did you use? The cheap chinese wrap falls apart easily. Never had an issue with the DEI stuff unless it was directly rubbing on something. I never use the spray either.

I didnt spray it. Honestly i didnt know there was a spray ive never had to use it over the years. This is the first real time ive had an issue. I just looked at the package and its definitely some cheap crap i got at autozone...Guess i dug my own grave on that one

I beleive you would still dip in water...the coating is similar to hi temp paint.
I dont have experience with any of this as I use the "lava" style

I only use the DEI volcanic rock stuff, I've never had it fall apart on any car I've put it on. Don't have to soak it for application or spray it, plus there is that whole you don't itch for days factor when you wrap something.
The fiberglass stuff and especially the cheaper versions almost always start to fail and fray like you are experiencing.

I've used both alot.
The fiberglass you should dip in water before applying to surface so when it dries it contracts and gets nice and tight on the pipe. Then you can spray it with the high temp silicone stuff to seal it / help keep it from fraying.
The synthetic volcanic stuff is much simpler. You just put it on lol. Its much kinder to the skin, no water or spray necessary.
Both are considered one time use (you put it on the pipe and leave it). The fiberglass will fall apart easier and right after you install it you will have fiberglass fibers all over near it and your engine bay. The volcanic stuff is worth the extra cash.

Re: Having an issue with my heatwrap..
I have the lava wrap on for over a year now. Seems to have gotten brittle and started ripping/falling apart when I took my manifold off.
Its a nice product. Not sure if I would buy again.
