Default hallmann pro rx boost controller sucks?

i bough the best hallman mbc i could get .. the pro rx, it comes with two sprints a heavy an a soft spring. i have the soft spring in their now and i have a 7psi wastegate spring.. i have my mbc maxed out to hte most positive it can go .. and i'm only seeing 6psi at my motor ... wtf

when i was originally tuned my tuner said i was at 9 psi ... then i got it dynoed and it was reading 6? ever since i'm at 6 psi only

i'm gunna hear boost leak from everyone .. but could it be something else? btw i haven't checked for a boost leak, but i sealed up my IAT and all my clamps are tight as hell .. i have no idea where it could even be leaking

i have my turbo compresser going to the bottom of the mbc .. then i have the side going to the fitting on the side of my wastegate ... the top one is open air

Could be a broken wastegate or wastegate diaphram? I had the same problem, boosting @ 13 psi til one day 5 psi was all it could do. I removed the mbc and ran it to check and it was exactly the same 5 psi. Changed the wastegate and problem solved for me anyways.

that would be something to check, what psi does it show when you run just the waste gate?

also, At least on my Turbo XS controller, the manifold pressure goes to the side port on the MBC, and bottom port on the MBC goes to the side port on the WG.

i think when i first got my car tuned my boost controller was all the way down and i think my engine was seeing 5.5 psi .. so that should have just been the 7psi spring

Even though you may havent checked for a boost leak yet, and even though you have all your couplers tight, I think you should do a leak test anyway to be on the safe side. Could be something other than a coupler. I had all mine tight as hell too, and still found THREE leaks in my system. Wont hurt to try, that way you'll have that possible cause out of the way.

and just fyi, a boost controller cant make the boost any lower then what the spring is, so i would think you have a 5.5 psi spring or maybe a 7 depending on where you are pulling your wg and gauge readings from. open it up and check what color the spring is and check to make sure the diaphragm is still good.

Sometimes the pressure read by the dyno and your gauge can very by as much as 5psi, so check everything.

yup, and you said the mbc is on the compressor housing, where is your gauge tapped into?

so thats why you are seeing lest boost then the spring is, cause you are measureing the pressure loss due to the intercooler. if you tap your MBC into the IM you will get more boost, but still doesnt explain why your MBC doesnt work. did you try switching the lines around> i think you should.

Its hooked up correctly. The Hallman's inlet port is on the bottom, and the outlet is the side port.

Perform a leak test and report back.

to rampage.. how would i switch it around? would i put the line from the IM to the bottom of the boost controller instead of having it come from my turbo?

does the turbo even need to be tapped?

and to perform a leak down test.. what do i do just spray soapy water everywhere to see if its leaking?
